It's a rather tenuous situation going into the new conference.

Robles might be the answer....but if/when Wynn gets knocked or pulled from another game due to injury or poor performance, then Robles will be put into quite the refiners fire. That doesn't bode well for 2011...but could prove fruitful in seasons beyond that.
This one here is not comfortable at all.

Or maybe Kyle should not have sold out to stop the run and committed more guys to pass defense.
You are right, but of course you also just completely ignored that there are teams that are substantially worse at PED than Utah in the conference. Remember you are saying that Utah was by far the worst pass defense in the conference, you would think that would reflect itself somehow in PED. It may also reflect in the number of pass TDs that Utah gave up, but oh they are also middle the conference there as well.

Your relying solely on passing yards is like claiming a player is the best hitter in baseball because he has the best BA. You are relying on a highly flawed stat that can be influenced by several other factors. Although, PED has its flaws it is a lot more reliable than yards allowed.

Now it is Utahs "talent" when before you just said you would take them over everyone else. Sorry but Lamar Chapman is not as good as Bradley or Logan, Taplin-Ross and Blechen do not hold a candle to Rich. Burton I will give the UTes but other than that BYU beats them in 3 out of 4 positions.

BYU allowed an extra yard per carry in conference play, that is a pretty significant different. I wouldn't go so far as to say that BYU was just as good at stopping the run.

99 yards per game compared to 115 Utah was clearly better however the difference does not justify how much better BYUs pass defense was than Utahs.

I'm not really arguing who had the better pass defense between Utah and BYU. I would agree with you that BYU was better. What I am arguing against is your completely unjustified statement that Utah was the worst pass defense in the conference by far. Just another example that you are completely blinded by your hatred of Utah when you try to evaluate them.

Sorry, let me clarify for you then, I would take them as group over every other group in the conference sans TCU or Air Force. Rich is stud, Logan is good as well but is impacted because of his height. Bradley is not good and the four or five guys that started at FS for BYU wouldn't see the field for any other team in the conference.

This is a topute/sloan hater argument. They are better because I said they are better even though the evidence proves otherwise.

I also find it hilarious when you accuse someone of making a "TopUte argument" considering that you definition of that argument applies to basically everything you have said about the Utes for the past 2-3 years.

I'm more concerned about the secondary for BYU in 2011. We lose 3 starters.

I like Eason at one corner....but the rest of the Secondary is going to be an interesting thing to watch shake out. Buckner will likely start at the other corner and I've been told that he and Kori Gaines have the best feet on the team.....J'ray Galeai makes me nervous. The kid struggled to see the field while competing against the likes of Steven Thomas and Travis Uale. That's not a good thing to put it mildly.

I know they've got De'Quan Everett, but while having the physical tools, I've heard he's struggled to get down the mental aspect of the defensive schemes. Bringing in 2 more JC Guys in Sampson and Hadley, along with the 2 redshirt freshman in Gaines and Johnson will make things interesting.

Ironically enough I think they might have as much talent in the Secondary as they've had for quite sometime...but not much experience and that concerns me.

Actually it isn't and no they aren't better because I said they are better. The #9 ranking doesn't tell the whole story. MPfunk pointed out the run defense stats which plays into account when discussing this. I know you don't like to give Funk credit but he put it up there before I was able to post it. Kyle's defensive philosophy is to shut down the run and make teams beat them with the pass.

Did you really just compare me to TopUte and SloanHater? Come on man.
