Official Utah inagural PAC-12 schedule thread

According to Lya, the official schedule will come out tomorrow.

It has been leaked that Utah will host Washington on October 1.

I assume that means we also play WSU, probably on the road.

I definitely love that the schedule will be released this early. It's nice to have for family arrangements, potential trips, etc.

Chris Hill sent out an email to fans that we would host Colorado as well, so if Lya is right, that's Home vs. CU and Wash and the thought is that Sept 10 could be a home game vs. UCLA or USC.

Here's that part of the email:

Next year in football, we will have five home games and four away games. The only Pac-12 game that we know will be home next year is Colorado. There will be a Pac-12 Football Championship Game at the home site of the divisional winner with the best record. We will be working on tiebreaker scenarios at our next Pac-12 AD's conference call, along with getting more specific with dates and opponents for the fall of 2011. We should know more about the schedule in the next month or two.

From Stanford:

While its precise schedule has yet to be determined, Stanford knows its slate of nine conference opponents. The Cardinal will play Arizona and Colorado as its out-of-division opponents next season, according to Mike Eubanks, an associate athletic director.

With reports that Utah will not play Oregon next year, I would have to think that leaves Washington, Washington St., Cal, and Oregon as its other non-division opponents.

If top-ranked Oregon goes on to win the national title, Colorado fans will see the defending national champion come to Folsom Field in the Buffaloes' first season in the Pac-12 Conference.

The Pac-12 is releasing its 2011 league football schedule this week, possibly today, but Colorado's is confirmed after piecing it together with sources.

Besides Oregon on Oct. 22, the Buffaloes will host Washington State on Oct. 1 in their Pac-12 debut, Southern California on Nov. 5 and Arizona on Nov. 12.

They will travel to Stanford on Oct. 8, Washington on Oct. 15, Arizona State on Oct. 29, UCLA on Nov. 19 and Utah on Nov. 26.

Now CU has a dilemma. The Pac-12 gave it only four league home games in the nine-game league

schedule. The school is contractually obligated to sponsors and suite owners to have six games at Folsom Field.

Its current nonleague schedule is Colorado State in Denver, at Hawaii, at Ohio State and California at home. Fresno State, tentatively scheduled as a home game, has been dropped.

Cal has not been scheduled as a league game, and Colorado athletic director Mike Bohn, Cal and the Pac-12 are still negotiating a solution.

Washington St.

PULLMAN – Washington State will make a trip to the Los Angeles area during the 2011 football season under the new Pac-12 Conference schedule that will be officially unveiled this week.

 The Cougars will face UCLA and new Pac-12 member Colorado on the road and host Arizona State and Utah, the other first-year member, as their four crossover games against the South Division.

 WSU’s division games are at Oregon, California and Washington, with the Apple Cup set for Nov. 26, the Saturday after Thanksgiving.

Actually, Cougar Gold cheese is one of the very best sharp cheddars in the Western US. It almost compares with New York style and likely beats Wisconsin.

If you like a dry, sharp, white cheddar (and not the orange rubbery/waxy crap from Tillamook or Cache Valley, you will love this one.
