Fire him because the playcalling is too consevative. Now fire him for being too aggressive. Fire him for too much passing. Now too much running. Fire for not giving Heaps all the practice reps. Fire him for putting all his eggs in the Jake Heaps basket. Too much Kariya. Wait nvm good job Kariya.

I'm sorry Woot, you're just plain wrong. This team is not struggling because of Anae. His scheme and play calling are fine. How else do you explain the amazing offensive output he has put up year after year with different players. The problems, frankly, are the missions that leave him with 3 inexperienced but talented quarterbacks and the Honor Code that stole his best running back. Anae deserves the fan's respect but he doesn't get it and I have never understood why. Our defense is regularly as poorly ranked as our offense currently is and our fans don't care. Our offense has one down season and fans want the OC fired. It's silly.

This has all been covered already. You can think I'm wrong, but many former players, and (if sources are correct) Bronco and his bosses, agree with me, not you.

I suppose it is easier to blame a coach than a player. If Anae is forced out after this season, we will regret it. We might like the replacement but we will look at him with longing while he continues on in his career and is very successful.

I agree, we will wish we had kept him as our OLine coach.

In this amazing offense that Doman's going to run, who will throw the passes and who will run the football?

The same guys who will do that when Anae's offense looks amazing again sometime next year. I make no real judgement on the issues this year. Playcalling is not the issue, IMO.

I like Anae because I personally like the execution approach. I think it plays to BYU's core strengths better than the outscheming/outsmarting the opponents. However, as I stated after the TCU game last year it is disturbing that TCU could so easily bottle up BYU twice in a row. I am a pretty supportive guy of this coaching staff, but that unnerved me.

I think that the HC has a good grip on it all and if Anae needs to go and he moves for it, then so be it.

I hope it doesn't come to firing Anae. Dropping your two coordinators isn't exactly the trappings of a consistent, nationally-prominent program.

i'm really curious as to who all these players and "inside sources" that hate anae are. a cougarboard post unfortunately does not count as an inside source.

I don't feel tons of loyalty to Anae. He sets himself up as a grumpy guy that thinks fans are idiots. I think he's a god coach. I think the TT/BYU hybrid offense we run matches perfectly with our talent base. The wide splits help the OL protect the QB. I think he has great balance pass to run. There have been poor game plans and poor calls. I think there have been more hits than misses. Its easy to demand change when things go wrong but change is not always good. Reynolds is too old and already failed. Doman hasn't proven anything and is still wet behind the ears. I don't know what else is out there.

I've heard this sentiment echoed by other Cougar coaches. Maybe they are on to something.

I agree that it would be better for him to start as a position coach. But being a back-up QB in the NFL for as many years as he did it is basically an assistant coaching position. He doesn't need that much experience.

brandon doman is the only consideration for anae's replacement, and it is very tough for me to envision any scenario in which detmer would take a position coaching job under doman (as either an oc or hc).

edit: i do think ty as an offensive coordinator would fall between serviceable and good.
