Me neither. In fact, if they're competitive dudes, they should have some type of problem with each other because neither is getting it done to the degree he should be.

I wish we could see inside that locker room. It has to be an extremely uncomfortable situation. I think the D, a few miscues aside, has every reason to be angry with the offense. The fumbled kickoff was the straw that broke the camel's back last night. After spending that much time on the field they were too gassed to do much of anything.

Bronco: We were outclassed and outplayed in every aspect of the game, offensive, defense, special teams. That is all on me and I take the blame.

Heaps: The first fumble and interception weren't bad. But the fumbles by the receivers and running backs and kick return team were egregious.

He basically said that his fumble wasn't as big a deal as that the two drive killing fumbles that came later. It was definitely cringe worthy.

South endzone. I didn't even care about the other one -- we were out of the game by then and the miscues were so deep I was laughing by then. The first one was a major gut punch and just a huge blow.

Everyone talks about Heaps' potential. Is it OK to challenge that? Why is it universally accepted that Heaps has a ton of potential.

Granted he has a stronger than average arm for a college QB. Other than that, is there anything else? If it's the strong arm, does every high school QB that flirts with the minor leagues as a pitcher deserve to have equal status as huge potential?

I think there's a reasonably compelling case that due to the experience he had before he came to BYU with the multiple years starting in a pro set offense, the personal coaches, the camps, etc, that he has less growth left than the typical high school recruit.

He's been in the program a year an a half, including two spring balls. He's started for more than a full season now. He's still locking on primary receivers. His long ball is rarely more than a chuck up in the air into double/triple coverage. He's throwing ground balls everywhere. He's wildly inconsistent on the most basic of throw's--10 yard out to the short side of the field. He has no composure when rushed.

I want to know what everyone else is seeing that the fan who only watches games is not seeing. Please give me some hope and not hype.

I passed along some info. before fall camp started that Heaps was not a hard worker. Even his Freshman year he was more interested in hanging out with his girlfriend than working out with his receivers. This summer he wasn't out there working tirelessly on his game.

I think the kid does have a lot of talent. I don't think he understands what peole like Jordan, Malone, Jerry Rice and other people who had talent but understood talent alone won't get it done. Perhaps he came and bought into football being a 5th priority.

The eternal optimist. Jay, calm down. I was reading through old posts about beck last not on cb and half of them are you pissing on beck for most of the same things you're now saying about heaps. He's had his fair share of problems, but he's made plenty of throws indicating his potential and talent. He's been mostly good in half of every game this year, and mostly shitty in the other half. At this point his biggest problem is consistency and putting together full games.

Also, I'm pretty sure he played in a spread in HS. I think the pro style stuff is fairly new to him.
