how is it safe to asusme if they go to 12 byu wouldnt be invited? they dont have many options.Originally posted by Jacob View PostTV networks want championship games. So it's pretty safe to conclude that the B12 will either go back to 12 or be destroyed, right? And that either way, they probably won't invite BYU.

SC, Oregon, UW, Farm and Kal would be my guess.Originally posted by SeattleUte View Post3D, how did the Pac get such a rich TV deal with POS schools like Utah and CO?
Not richer, just not substantially less.Is it that the deal would have been richer without them?Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

What evidence is there of a splintering or weakening of this market? Articles I have read indicate that live sports remain viable and in higher demand for advertisers.Originally posted by Indy Coug View PostAs the live TV market for college football continues to splinter with each passing day, it will be interesting to see how these networks make good on their payouts.

I suppose it's been argued a thousand times and it will never have resolution, but I think a big part of getting this kind of money was getting to 12 teams and adding a championship game.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostSC, Oregon, UW, Farm and Kal would be my guess.

So, even in your most blue-shaded, cynical glasses, DDD, you have to admit Utah and CU were numbers that were necessary.
Now, you can say Utah and CU are just numbers, but at 20+ million per year, I think everyone involved would be just fine with that.

Fox is still involved. Welcome to FSN Battle Mountain. FSN dominates the I-80 corridor.Originally posted by Top Ute View Post
Anyway, that's a huge TV deal. I'm sure the dealmaker for the networks was the addition of a school that doesn't even control its own barely top 50 TV market (okay, maybe it's not barely top 50). I'm sure SoCal and the Bay Area were afterthoughts.
I've gone from thinking that college football TV payouts were too low to thinking they're too high. I thought it was hilarious how Jermaine O'Neal earned more money in one year a couple years ago than an overwhelming majority of BCS schools were earning on their TV contracts. Now it appears the pendulum has swung. If my math is correct, the Pac-10 will be getting about $250 million per year from FOX and ESPN. I also assume it will earn mtn. type money on its shitty games (Utah v. Washington State, Colorado v. Utah, Utah v. Arizona State, Washington v. Utah) -- maybe $27-30 million total per team? That's still too little for USC.Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

What do you care about the TV deal? You don't even have a television. Fans like you have obviously hurt the conferences' bargaining position.Originally posted by SeattleUte View Post3D, how did the Pac get such a rich TV deal with POS schools like Utah and CO?
