“There is a great deal of difference in believing something still, and believing it again.”

"God made the angels to show His splendour - as He made animals for innocence and plants for their simplicity. But men and women He made to serve Him wittily, in the tangle of their minds."
-- Robert Bolt, A Man for All Seasons
"It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye."
--Antoine de Saint-Exupery
I know you've said it a number of times now, and I'm not sure if you were the person who originally coined it, but I have to tell you that I laugh whenever I see a reference to the mtn. as something Zapruder-related. That's genuinely funny.
Somebody else referenced the Zapruder film after the Utah v. BYU basketball game earlier this year (whoever it was, please take credit). It looked like a BYUtv replay of the Danny Ainge-Notre Dame game. I think the mtn. employed a couple Marty McFly-filming-Doc Brown-JVCs for that game. In other words, Wayne's World's Sports Programming Network (WWSPN) couldn't even spring for some betacams, they went VHS.
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”
I think it was someone else or a different post from PAC, everyone was commenting on how horrible the picture was for that game and I think it was the game that took place at the Huntsman Center. I remember I couldn't tell the difference between a 6 and 8 on my LCD.

Couple of things, $20mm was legitimately the first offer. There were many options BYU was considering at the time and the option ESPN viewed as option B would have effectively locked ESPN out of the western timezones unless they were willing to pay huge dollars to the Pac-12. I don't know what the number ended up being but what was conveyed to me was that it was in the upper reaches of what BYU thought was possible. It was also within a range that made ESPN very happy. I also had it specifically conveyed to me that ESPN was very happy to be back in the marketing of the "BYU Brand." I know Utah fans don't like us to go back into the past beyond 2004 but BYU was a brand that helped lift up ESPN and ESPN is glad to have it back. Even if you don't like BYU, you have to admit that they have created an exciting brand of football for the last 40 years or so.

I agree all of ESPN's success can be attributed to byu.

Dig your own grave, and save!

actually it can be attributed to me. I got one of their cheesy stylish sweatshirts with my magazine subscription several years ago. When I advertise something people mock me behind my back listen.
Since that is clearly what he said I can see how you arrived at that conclusion.
Seriously, don't be a douche.
A little bit of sarcasm never hurt anyone. Art V and falafel got it.

My bad. Sorry for calling you a douche. It just didn't seem out of line from the type of jump you would actually make.
See a little sarcasm ain't so bad.
