Seen this rumored but ESPN is now picking up on it. Hawaii looking to go indy in football and move other sports to Big West Conference.
From that article:

Welcome back and congrats on getting the daughter installed. Now tell everyone that I was just doing what you were doing - keeping Cougar fans grounded in a tense time. It's a valuable service, as you so patiently taught us!Originally posted by myboynoah View PostThank you, thank you, thank you.
I very much appreciate your coming to my defense. You might also mention that I was declared MVP as well.
Update on daughter: moved in today, tomorrow will go out shopping for supplies, Friday I fly away. We rented a Flex; I like that car.

Yes, grounded from the hallowed grounds of independence! I can't believe how high I am flying right now over being independent. Luckily you ankle weights have kept me from soaring off like balloon boy.

I wonder whether this will ever happen. It would be very gratifying.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostOn behalf of BYU, I would like to formally apologize for the horrible racist talk given by MEP on the BYU campus in 1954. This is why BYU needs to get into the Big 12.
From ESPN Insider:
WTF? How does a kid commit to a school and not know what conference they play in? How does ESPN not know that Boise State has left for the MWC? And a possibility of Fresno and Nevada leaving the WAC? BYU needs to get away from both conferences. The rest of the world sees them as the same. I envy Utah more and more every day.Top-100 quarterback Brett Smith has rescinded his verbal to San Diego State, telling Oregon's Statesman Journal the uncertainty surrounding the WAC has led him to open up his recruitment.
Smith of Salem, Ore., is not a highly-touted prospect, but he's the type of solid commit that schools like SDSU can't afford to lose. He was even on track to enroll early. Not now that there is a possibility of Fresno State and Nevada leaving the conference.
In fact, we would contend that only Boise State has the pedigree to hold on to top recruits despite the conference's demise. Where does that leave teams like Idaho, which picked up a surprise verbal from three-star defensive tackle Desmond Collins out of Salt Lake City? Maybe he decides to stay at home with Utah or explore the Pac-10?A man who views the world the same at fifty as he did at twenty has wasted thirty years of his life. - Mohammad Ali

Every time I look at that speech it blows my mind; I never get immune to it. It's a characature of the most vile racist speech imaginable. He's got the ground covered: The "negros" don't just want to eat in our restaruants, they want to sire our grandchildren; the "negros" need to understand they are what they are because God made them that way and they deserved it (else how could we call God just?); this doesn't just apply to "negros" but all the wretched oppressed starving people of the earth (in Africa, Souteast Asia, Haiti, etc.), they all richly deserve their misery.Originally posted by UtahDan View PostI wonder whether this will ever happen. Remember, this was 9 years after Hitler died, and the court case he referes to in his speceh is Brown v. Board of Education. So no, by then, not everyone was so catastrophically hateful and ignorant, and he had plenty of history to demonstrate the error of his ways.
Still, this may be the the most uncompromisnigly hateful racist speech I've ever read given by an American in the 20th Century.
Did I ever tell you I met MEP once? I can attest he was a cruel man. He may have been a apostle, but he was cruel. Probably not the first time or the last, though. When a true genius appears, you can know him by this sign: that all the dunces are in a confederacy against him.

By the way, this is not a hijcack because it has a lot to do with the fact that BYU is a school without a BCS conference.Originally posted by UtahDan View PostI wonder whether this will ever happen. No, it will never happen! And polygamy will always be practiced, the priesthood ban will remain in place until the Millennium, and garments will always be one-piece.Originally posted by UtahDan View PostI wonder whether this will ever happen. It would be very gratifying.

I don't get it either. Where would this dude go? He's leaving SDSU.... for a more stable Div. 2 program? Its not like UCLA is calling.Originally posted by CJF View PostThis is why BYU needs to get into the Big 12.

I agree, actually. The problem is, IMO, that new people often treat this as a big anonymous board, when in reality its a very small and tight-knit community. But I can see how it would be hard to see that at first.Originally posted by USS UtahMan, this place can be hell on new people.Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. And the kid that committed to Idaho is now going to head to the PAC-10 because the WAC is in flux. Yeah, that makes perfect sense. I can almost understand the local Salem paper screwing up the WAC part, but for ESPN to take it, add their "insight" and publish it is disturbing.Originally posted by falafel View PostI don't get it either.
