Every time I look at that speech it blows my mind; I never get immune to it. It's a characature of the most vile racist speech imaginable. He's got the ground covered: The "negros" don't just want to eat in our restaruants, they want to sire our grandchildren; the "negros" need to understand they are what they are because God made them that way and they deserved it (else how could we call God just?); this doesn't just apply to "negros" but all the wretched oppressed starving people of the earth (in Africa, Souteast Asia, Haiti, etc.), they all richly deserve their misery.

Remember, this was 9 years after Hitler died, and the court case he referes to in his speceh is Brown v. Board of Education. So no, by then, not everyone was so catastrophically hateful and ignorant, and he had plenty of history to demonstrate the error of his ways.

Still, this may be the the most uncompromisnigly hateful racist speech I've ever read given by an American in the 20th Century.

I agree, actually. The problem is, IMO, that new people often treat this as a big anonymous board, when in reality its a very small and tight-knit community. But I can see how it would be hard to see that at first.

And the kid that committed to Idaho is now going to head to the PAC-10 because the WAC is in flux. Yeah, that makes perfect sense. I can almost understand the local Salem paper screwing up the WAC part, but for ESPN to take it, add their "insight" and publish it is disturbing.
