At this point I would prefer BYU to go independent for the time being. Going back to the MWC makes us look pretty incompetent and unable to pull our own weight (Big-12 could hardly be impressed). Better to gamble and see what we can do and fail. But scheduling worries me a little bit. If we have to schedule the remaining WAC schools I don't see it as an upgrade. I doubt any of the MWC teams are eager to do us any favors.

What's stopping the WAC from going after TCU? The MWC just got a lot crappier and if TCU bolts, BSU will stay with the WAC too. It would explain Gary's demeanor--pissed at BYU for thinking they're good enough for independence, yet telling everyone to hold off on judgments until September.

Why would TCU leave for the WAC? For the chance to play BYU once every couple of years? All they have to do is sit tight and the best the WAC has to offer will come to them.

I rally thrink this is an importsant point. AFAIK (and I realize I am just not keeping up on my sources despite statman's getnle urging) BYU has yet to say anything other than no comment or all options are on the table. Clearly somethign was /is going on behind doors but what it is only God and Statman know for sure.

I do really want to see that $ thermometer graphic at LES whenever we play a game against NM State though. Maybe we can get it up to $10 million if I pay for an online stream AND buy the PPV while going to the game. How exciting will THAT be?
