An extra $4M on a $25M budget. Tell me I should care.Originally posted by YOhio View PostYou keep pounding this drum. I'm curious as to how the serious $$$ will help BYU win more football games (or any sport for that matter). It's not like they'll pay the coaches more. They already have excellent facilities. They've never not recruited a player because it wasn't in the budget. Maybe I'm being naive here, but I see this $$$ play being thrown around as if a fan should care. Just what will the extra money mean for BYU athletics in terms of wins/losses?

Notre Dame only has 7 home games this year.Originally posted by HuskyFreeNorthwest View Post7? If we have all this money and ESPN gift wrapping games for us why not 8? Or even 9 in some years, Notre Dame has 9 home games this year. Think of all the money BYU will be making from 9 home games!"Be a philosopher. A man can compromise to gain a point. I was semi on board with this indy idea before FSU and UNR left the WAC. However, what was a poor situation for basketball and our other sports has now become a potential disaster. BYU needs to reconsider this move but I doubt that they will since this is all about the money and there will be a short term windfall in that regard.
Somebody needs to slow this down, take a deep breath and look at this again from 50,000 feet. I think we just got put into checkmate and are yet to realize it. We are going to get a nice appearance fee but bobby fisher just kicked our ass.Dyslexics are teople poo...

the neutral location games are in yankee stadium and the new jets/giants stadiumOriginally posted by HuskyFreeNorthwest View PostMy apologies, I didn't recognize the * indicating "neutral location" games."Be a philosopher. It all depends on what they have going on behind the scenes. IF it turns out that the bYu admin doesn't know anything more than what we are hearing in the media then I will be gravely disappointed and convinced that this was a big screw up. OTOH, my guess is that theat they know a lot more and that the moves with FSU and UNR were not entirely unanticipated and that, like Gary Patterson says, we should just wait a week or two and see what shakes out. Maybe we stay in the MWC with our own TV network. Maybe we are gone with the wind. Maybe something in between. Time will tell.Originally posted by HuskyFreeNorthwest View PostWell of everyone on CUF you and ER seem to think it is rational, everyone else is just crazy.PLesa excuse the tpyos.

Can someone show me where this is more than speculation? Statman you keep saying ESPN is behind this, can you provide a link or something?Originally posted by statman View PostThe good thing is that BYU will have ESPN behind it on about 4 games a year, and ESPN has the clout to arrange games in a 1-2 year time frame and not the 3-5 years that most teams generally do their OOC games. 1-2 years out it's going to be easier to avoid over-/under-scheduling. And it's really only those 4 ESPN games that are going to matter in determining whether BYU is 'good enough'"Take it to the Bank"

Yeah, Santos. You bitch about this now, but you'll come around all right. When we're enjoying 2-1 series with the likes of Tulsa and Memphis I'm certain you'll be singing a different tune.Originally posted by statman View PostYou should care. Especially because in total, it's going to be closer to $10 million in TV money vs. the $1.2 they get now. And that doesn't count any bowl money.

Why not 8? Some Ute fans are expecting that.Originally posted by statman View PostAt the very least, it lets you buy opponents that you want. More home games. Fewer 1-for-2 series and more 2-for-1s. I'd expect 7 home games to be the standard for BYU going forward."Take it to the Bank"
