This Syracuse and Pitt to the ACC development is a shocker. The ACC was just sitting there quietly like an allegator in the swamp, and then "chomp"! Now the Big 12 is reeling because Pitt was the jewel it had its eye on most of all. Certainly the ACC has to add two more teams. They have to have 16, not 14 teams (probably will add UConn for one). Now I'm thinking that with that precedent there might be a Pac 16. I'm in shock. (It seems only the California schools can counterbalance Texas. I'd rather have the Kansas schools than Oklahoma State or Texas Tech.)
Kansas would require its kid brother, KSU just like OU and OSU. US News & World Report rankings:

      101 Kansas
      143 KSU

So Pac-16 Ave w/ OU, OSU, Kansas, KSU = 89

That does help with getting the Pac closer to the SEC, however.

Well this might be OK. I've been against Texas and Texas Tech joining but... if it's gonna be... pods are the best option IMO.

Utah, Colorado, and the Arizona schools will certainly be in the same pod.

Some teams are up and some schools are rebuilding all on different years. Anyone winning the Championship of this Conference would be a damn good team, and capable of competing for a legitimate National Championship that was earned on the field. Not through some poll.

Utah's teams in 2004 and 2008 never got the chance to show what they could do matched against equal competition.
If they go to the P16 there aren't going to be pods. It will be the Pac 8 division and the Texas/Oklahoma division. The P12 schools just got a ton of money, there isn't that much more money out there (unless our resident TV expert/mother seducer statman wants to comment), they aren't going to bend over for Texas.

This is why I have such a hard time buying Texas to the PAC. Oklahoma I can see because OU has been seen as Texas lapdog during the BCS era (a perception that is admittedly unfair since OU has won way more conference titles, head to head games, and been to more BCS bowls). So OU comes out West and simply falls into line. I can see that. Texas comes to the PAC and starts telling the California schools what to do? I dont think so.

          But these are strange times.

I didn't think so originally either, but the lastest articles seem to be trending that way. Placing you guys in the Northwest pod.

If Texas and OU come in you can bet your ass there is going to be more money.

They are already talking about concessions for the LHN.

The only way I think this is gonna work is if we stick with an equal revenue sharing model across the board.

An article from the Austin Statesman slanted things towards Texas benefit, nothing but honest journalism there! To steal DDD's favorite emoticon

Yeah well... if they do come in expect much more from Texas... I had to quit reading Colorado's boards on the subject. They are in full hatred mode for the Whorns. They have a lot of experience with Texas that I didn't understand or know about.

The Buffs believe that the future Conference Championship will be played at JerryWorld.

they won't tell the California schools what to do. It would be a different paradigm. California is the most populous state in the country, and has 50% more people than the second most, Texas. Also, there are four Cal schools, and between them they have about five times as much whatever as Texas, however you choose to measure. Texas would come because of the Pac's incomparable glamour and allur. Texas would be an equal Pac 16 citizen.

There are worse places to watch football. Unless you are playing LSU and your team loves to fumble then the awesomeness of the stadium kind of becomes background noise.

That's what everybody thought everywhere else they've been, too... just never works out that way.

Read not to long ago about an expectation that a PAC 16 East Office would need to be built in Dallas.

                      • I wouldn't be surprised to see Larry Scott tell Texas the same thing it told UCLA and USC: you're guaranteed x amount of revenue no matter what, but if negotiations mean a shared revenue above that, you'll be equal with everyone else.

This is the only way that conference is ever gonna work.
