The current direction of this thread is pretty solid proof that human nature sees and believes only what it wants to.
Well, in the same day, OU announced they're looking elsewhere, Monson reports that he's talked to people that say the original PAC-8 really want to re-form, and there are people here with Big 12 connections that out of the blue are saying that UT, OU, OSU - AND BYU are rumored adds to the PAC.

Not a normal set of daily news...
I'm just glad people have stopped mentioning Texas Tech. They aren't a has been because they never was. Their athletic department brings in less revenue than Baylor, TCU and Kansas State. If UT goes anywhere they won't drag Tech with them.
My preiction is that OU realizes they NEED Texas and they both go to the PAC 12 with OSU (they are worth quite a bit) and Kansas. The PAC goes against it's principles and brings in two marginally decent academic institutions.
"Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

At least three of those institutions exceed existing Pac-12 standards.

That would normally be the odds-on outcome. But Kansas doesn't have an ESPN deal...And ESPN rules

Nobody said they didn't. Boy you are touchy tonight. This whole hysteria is obviously even reaching the Oklahoma fans. No worries, you'll find a conference.
The PAC wants great academic institutions. Texas is great and OU is pretty great. Kansas is marginally good (compared to PAC schools). OSU is OSU.

Five of the PAC 10 schools are great-- the four California schools and Washington. Colorado comes next and the rest of the schools suck balls. So Kansas and OSU fit in just fine.
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

Who wants to fly their women's swimming/diving team all over the damn country?
Football is one thing... it pays for itself and every other sport out there... but it's gonna get pretty expensive flying every sports team (and all their gear) that a university has half way across the continent for nobody to see.

True, but some fan bases get really excited for things like women's gymnastics. Even to the point that they outdraw their basketball teams. Hard to believe, I know.
