I realize that you have been skeptical throughout but arguing for the most logical and truly the only choice and then dismissing their chances based on this just seems strange IMO.

    • Both OU and UT are not split on one team...

Report: UT, OU again appear split over potential Big 12 expansion candidates

Work continues behind the scenes as Big 12 officials mull potential expansion candidates.

It's still not clear if the conference will add two teams, four teams or any at all.

The Cincinnati Enquirer's Jason Williams reports that a source is telling him that the conference two major powers, Texas and

Oklahoma, appear split on who they want for admission.

OU, Williams reports, wants BYU and Cincinnati.

Texas apparently favors Houston and Cincinnati.

          wat?

Oh, never mind the fact that the LDS stance LGBT is controversial and harmful. These school presidents knew about it and didn't really care, until now. Those damn LGBT folks, always ruining a good thing.

If this is the one thing that keeps BYU out of the Big XII every BYU fan should be ashamed...of BYU, not the Big XII.

          • Maybe Tom will show them this video and the Big 12 will feel better about things:

I suppose that on the surface that video makes things look really good, I couldn't stomach more than a minute of the "I'm a gay/lesbian BYU student, and I'm happy!" bullshit.

The "happy bullshit" doesn't start until over 6 minutes in. And do you think those that said they think things are getting better at BYU were lying?

Maybe, social norms and mores change over time. Inevitably, the younger generations are more comfortable with the changes than the older generations. This isn't a new phenomenon. I'm sure the student body cares a great deal less about sexual orientation than the administration, but it isn't the student body that sets the policies that will get a gay couple kicked out for PDAs/NCMOs (or even CMOs).

                        • Can't America do anything without it being some political shit show? The LGBTQ's want to go after BYU's federal funding? Fine. Go ahead. But leave athletics the hell alone. It's a damn good way to piss off Mormons who are sympathetic to their cause. Namely me. Also, we give them tunnels to sing in for a safe space and that was totally ignored in those letters.

                          • Over the next ten years, the church's stance on the LGBT issues will lead to some huge fights that will significantly impact BYU. Just wait until schools start to boycott playing BYU, then there will be calls for BYU to lose its accreditation, followed by discussions about whether the church should be able to maintain its tax exempt status. Unlike the priesthood ban, this is a battle the church is willing to fight to the death. It is going to get very, very ugly.

I have to say the first thing I thought after reading the letter is that it could affect BYU sports as an independent.
