1. Walsh -- Injured in 3rd game and out for season

3. Hancock -Played in 4th game against Hawaii and injured towards the end of the Utah game
4. Young -- Played in bowl game

That team had an embarrassment of riches at QB. The top 3 were all very good. Although Walsh gives Brett Engamann some competition for slowest football player of all time.

yeah, 3 very talented ones. Young was very pedestrian though. The following season I remember the Fresno game where Walsh was on the sidelines on crutches. Clements was having a struggle, although he wasn't getting very good plays called for him. Then the fans clamoring for Young got their wish and he goes in and it looked like they may as well have put in a fan sitting in the stands. He plays for two series and goes 0-3 with 2 interceptions. One of those 3 incompletions it was funny as you could feel the crowd suddenly get excited because a receiver was open in the flat about 10 yards away and Young throws the pass about 10 feet short and the crowd collectively says, "ugh." He throws the INT on the next play and then he comes out never to be seen on the field again. Walsh comes in and throws for over 400 yards in one half.

The vote on deregulation will take place at the NCAA convention in San Antonio on January 13-16, according to ESPN. In the event that the Big 12’s efforts are unsuccessful, the conference’s hand could be forced, perhaps leading to the latest round of conference expansion.
“(Expansion) is a part of the discussion we're having, and we won't be making any decisions until after we know how it runs out," he said.

This doesn't make sense to me. Current B12 schools can't recruit the city of Houston already? Why would Texas, Oklahoma, Baylor, etc., want UH to come up to their level, giving recruits yet another P5 option now close to home? As far as media goes, the B12 owns the Houston market already. Adding UH doesn't change that.

Yes, I know we heard the same arguments about TCU. The difference was TCU replaced an outgoing Texas school. It wasn't added as an additional one.

Doesn't matter. The Big 12 already owns the Houston market. Sure, they split it with A&M, but adding UH doesn't add viewers considering UH doesn't have many of those. It's a commuter school where most of its students and alumni are already fans of Texas and A&M anyway.

This is well established. If the rest of the conference had joined Nebraska and stood up to Texas after Colorado bolted, the Big 12 would still be a stable, elite conference. Instead it is a dead man walking.

They have a 12-1 team in a top 10 market but still can't fill their 40,000 seat stadium.

Yeah, If UT and OU would have joined the P1214 then BYU, TCU, Kansas, and TexasTech could be playing together in the MWC.

And I don't think it would have been in the MWC anyway. BYU would have left the MWC to form a new league with the teams that made the most sense, while leaving behind the ones that didn't. They did that when in the WAC, they would have done it again just to get away from Thompson, Comcast, and the mtn.

I'm not sure I'd say the big12 owns the Houston market. They probably share it 50/50 with the SEC. UT and aTm are the bigger players here but after that you have LSU as the next biggest. UH is probably after that along with Baylor. Tech and TCU are fairly non existent here...in fact Oklahoma might be bigger in Houston than them.

Big 12 games have no problem getting on TV in Houston right now. Adding UH doesn't add anything to that. If you had a B12 channel it would be available in every cable/satellite home in Houston whether UH is in the Big 12 or not. There are too many Texas fans there for that not to happen.
