I suppose, but the conventional wisdom is that the other sports don't dictate conference expansion.

right but still only affects them once a year, max. and while I can buy basketball as a consideration, im not buying other sports factoring into it much, if at all.

      • Bowlsby sez: Backloading was not intentional (and he is actually credible this time)

        http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports...-tcu/75579884/

The Big 12's 2015 conference schedule was delivered to member schools during the 2014 season — well before Baylor and TCU finished tied atop the league's standings and ranked Nos. 5 and 6 in the final CFP Top 25, just outside the four-team bracket. The schedule was officially released Nov. 19, 2014. That means working drafts of the 2015 schedule had been under consideration well before the 2014 season even began — drafts were circulated to schools in September and October. And it means the schedule was largely developed before anyone knew TCU, for example, would develop into a power. Baylor was clearly on the rise; the Bears had won the Big 12 in 2013. But the Horned Frogs were coming off seasons of 7-5 in 2012 and 4-8 in 2013, their first two years in the Big 12, before catching fire last season to go 12-1.
Beyond that, when the 2015 schedule was developed and released, Oklahoma State appeared to be headed toward a losing season. The Cowboys didn't become bowl-eligible until beating Oklahoma in the final regular-season game.

        • OU will figure out a way to leave long before 2025. I think someone posted a link a while back to an article that had legal reasoning as to why the GOR is poorly written and will ultimately prove to be unenforceable. They would have been better off just naming a specific price. The ACC did that and ultimately got their money from the Big 10 when Maryland left.

          • The case for Memphis

            http://espn.go.com/blog/ncfnation/po...o-achieve-them

Fan support. Game days have gone from sad sights to vibrant happenings. Memphis averages 46,547 fans, and last Saturday's attendance of 55,212 marked its largest ever for a conference game. "It was neat to see how far we've come," Fuente said. "It speaks volumes to some of the progress we've made

Tailgates line Tiger Lane and the surrounding lots before games. Fans gather to greet the team buses and huddle around the cage containing TOM III, Memphis' live tiger mascot.
"We made a football game into an all-day party and a destination," said Mike Fredi, a past president of the Highland Hundred, Memphis' football booster club. "We used to have livestock barns and asphalt out here. Who wants to tailgate on that?

            • My favorite part about the latest episode of twitterrhea from the Dude of WV is his assertion that the President and AD of the University of Texas are too busy with other issues to worry about Big 12 conference expansion. That is super believable and makes me want to pay more attention to TDOWV.

I think it is cool that he knows someone in the Texas governor's office. Those are some serious connections.

                    • More dude.

I will have an expansion post tomorrow with more details
Keep in mind that I can't get anyone from the UH side to talk to me
those who spoke to be from the Big 12 and Texas obviously had a anti-UH agenda.
I reached out to Yuracheck at UH, Ken Starr & Tillman Fertitta. Nothing.

                            • ACC sez (indirectly): B12 is dum for not expanding

                              http://www.charlotteobserver.com/spo...e44296488.html

If last season was the moment when expansion finally gave ACC basketball the adrenaline boost it needed for so long, this season will be when it really pays off.

“I really believe this is the year we get to eight bids and maybe more,” Notre Dame coach Mike Brey said. “I really feel this is the year. My first two years I didn’t have that feeling. I do feel with the teams and knowing what’s coming back and how teams have recruited, I think this is the year it has the look of that Big East that I left those last couple years when we were getting eight, nine, and that one year we got 11 bids.
Also, the author of the article is named "DeCock"
