The Big 12 has Texas covered. Of course, they had it covered before TCU also so who knows? Maybe the state legislature, the governor, or a backroom deal with Texas will lead to another decision to pick an underwhelming Texas school instead of BYU.

I am saying that if it is up to the NCAA to determine if the Big 12 can have a CCG with 10 teams, they might just lay down and let them.

That makes no sense when they have already said no to the ACC and if they really are the P5's bitch like you say.

but the other P5s won't and that is where the power really lies.

How long has it been since they said no? Wasn't that 4 years ago? Things are changing with the P5 conferences and the NCAA monthly.

Since his departure there have been only a few great comebacks and many more games where the fellas have folded when the odds weren't in their favor. Need to get the mojo back and this is a good place to start.

Your logic still does not make any sense. You are arguing that the NCAA will rule against the P5 consensus because they are afraid of the P5. Nope.

I see some potential for abuse. For instance FSU pushing for a rematch against Clemson rather than a rematch versus Georgia Tech. The public reason would be that Clemson is ranked higher than GT and will give a highly ranked FSU the best chance for a playoff bid. The real reason could be that FSU doesn't match up well against GT's option offense and FSU doesn't want to play GT again. This is all hypothetical of course.

Not only that but the playoff committee might look at it as an end run and not give it a full measure of respect.

That is fine. I didn't say that they would allow it, all I am saying is that the NCAA is scared of the P5 conferences. What ever the P5 consensus is, that is the direction they will follow because they don't want to get cut out. When the NCAA ruled on the ACC, it was a different time and really isn't relevant now because the P5 didn't exist then.

You've lost me. FSU wouldn't/couldn't "push" for anybody. The top two teams would play, period. It wouldn't always be without controversy, but the decision wouldn't be left to any one school.

The Big 10 and the Pac 12 both made the same petition the Big 12 will make and were denied because of opposition from, ironically, the Big 12, SEC, and ACC. No way will the Big 10, Pac 12, or SEC support the Big 12's attempt.

The only hope for the Big 12 is a general deregulation effort where it is included with a bunch of things the other P5 conferences want. That seems like a long shot.

But who determines the top two teams in that conference? Does the conference have its own computer model, or does it employ a committee? If its a committee, then of course an individual team could campaign for the matchups.
