With the four team playoff and Big 12/SEC alliance with the Sugar Bowl (most likely bowl affiliation), a development I see is that the Big 12 has to get back to 12 teams. I don't think the the Big Ten, PAC-12, and SEC who play a CCG will allow the Big 12 to skate into a four-team playoff without playing one (despite the objections of Longhorn, Inc.).

I don't know what that means for BYU. It's possible that Clemson and FSU defect to the Big 12 but I have my doubts. I agree with others that Notre Dame will never join the ACC. I have always maintained that if Notre Dame joins a conference it would be the Big Ten. However, if the Big 12 got Notre Dame and BYU, Texas would no longer object. And that would be quite the coup for the Big 12:

Notre Dame, TCU, West Virginia, BYU = Nebraska, Texas A&M, Missouri, Colorado

Maybe this four-team playoff ends up just being a way to force Notre Dame into a conference.

They are idiotic. I fall in the camp of supporting BYU more than criticizing, but it's still a stupid post. The one in response telling people who are not busy whining to go support SVU is marginally more stupid.

I'm not sure why anyone would. There are 118 other teams to choose from and certainly a significantly large amount of those 118 teams are better programs than Utah, so finding a new program wouldn't be particularly difficult.

I won't support them like I did BYU, but since I am from Utah, graduated from Utah, their doing well is good for the church, a lot of my very best friends are Utes, I will watch them on TV and hope they win.

True. I actually feel a bit of remorse for making my granddaughter who lives in Bountiful an avid BYU fan. She won't grow up believing in the strict ways of BYU. Most of her friends will be Utes. All of her family on her mothers side are Utes. By the time she is 16, rooting for BYU will be like folks who root for USU now.

I could be wrong of course, but I think I will deprogram her.
