You are right. Although I remember Darnay Scott being more of a problem than Faulk. It seemed like every pass he caught was an 80 yard TD.Originally posted by lambdacoug View Post

Faulk had 230+ yds total offense and left in the third quarter.Originally posted by Omaha 680 View PostYou are right. Although I remember Darnay Scott being more of a problem than Faulk. It seemed like every pass he caught was an 80 yard TD.
I just remember that it seemed like every time Faulk touched the ball he got 10+ yards. I don't remember that game very specifically, but I remember being thankful we had Detmer to counter Faulk and I distinctly remember being worried what we'd do when we had to face Faulk without Detmer.Don't worry about people stealing your ideas. Everyone got in on the act. Faulk had an 80 yard TD pass of his own, separating himself from Jared Leavitt by about 35 yards by the time he reached the end zone.Originally posted by Omaha 680 View PostYou are right. Farm boys from the SE 208 just can't keep up with someone like Marshall.

Was that the game that gave us one of our cherished Lavell quotes? In the post-game call-in show, a caller criticized Lavell's decision to kick an extra point for the tie (only seconds remained in the game) rather than go for two, even though a tie gave BYU the conference championship. The caller dismissed Lavell's explanation and harrumphed, "Well, I would have gone for two." Lavell calmly responded, "That's why I'm the coach and you're calling in."Originally posted by Omaha 680 View PostYou are right. Although I remember Darnay Scott being more of a problem than Faulk. I've heard '71 has this quote tattooed on his left butt cheek.

I freely admit I am a puss about being independent.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostI hate your wimpiness!
I have hated nearly every minute of it. I realize it's better than where we were at. I went back and forth about joining the BE and helping them stabilize. In retrospect that now looks like a good choice.
I still want us in a stable, big conference in the case that we do have that special year, we would get playoff access. Being independent just feels like the Globetrotters to me.Will donate kidney for B12 membership.

My grandpa and I would listen to them on the way home from games when I was a kid. My grandpa would sit there and laugh about what idiots they were. Good times. Will donate kidney for B12 membership.

That call was only outdone by the genius that called in after a 13-0 win against SDSU on a cold, rainy night where BYU threw only 17 times while running 48. He told LaVell "I'd rather pass 70 times and lose than run 70 times and win."Originally posted by PaloAltoCougar View PostWas that the game that gave us one of our cherished Lavell quotes? I don't remember the exact response from LaVell (stunned silence?) but I think it's a mathematical certainty that person posts on Cougarboard.

Go to the 5:48 mark:Originally posted by CJF View PostThe best play of that SDSU tie was from freshman Jamal Willis and his amazing one handed grab. That play is natural Viagra.
