When you exclude someone from participating because of "culture differences" what are they talking about? I'm curious.

I honestly tossed the bigot comment out there without thinking. Sorry

Call it whatever you want. Call it a popsicle for all I care (I've learned that so many here are uninformed about what bigotry and racism even mean and intractable in their ignorance there's no point in arguing about it). Regardless, it's what's BYU's biggest problem. You don't think it's a problem because "Football/Basketball is all the same"? I ask you what I asked Lebowsi: why do you suppose Utah and not BYU was invited to the Pac 12? Fan base?

Probably because BYU lags far behind the U in both witfulness and articity.

JL, no, I can't. And neither can he ("fabulous freak brothers", amongst others). I just take issue with his blatant intellectual dishonesty (Catblue is really all you need to know, but it goes on and on)...I can even deal with his over estimation of his intelligence and the irony therewith (including incorrectly interpreting my Trojan Horse comment but that's another thread not this one...he didn't even pick up on the right form of Trojan Horse!).

I've explained why in the past. But it's a distraction to me. It diminishes my enjoyment of this board and likely that of others here. Ergo, since I have heretofore demonstrated zero amount of self-restraint here, the only alternative is to ignore the poor sod.

Wuap, you and the other SU apologists should be ashamed...he's a rat and you need to nip him in the bud (please tell me you get that, dr linguistics!).

Thus the irony of Utah's invite.

A bunch of white, and predominantly mormon students, faculty and alumni invited into the culturally sensitive Pac12. I'm sure the School of the Prophets isn't what Calford expected.

Lead on, kind light, lead on.

BYU is once again the hot girl.

Edit: The B12 will need to move more quickly than it might think

Actually, we've done that already. The SU imitation contest. It was a smash hit.

Can you explain to a relative newbie what you are referring too? You can PM me if you want. Thanks.

Catblue is a moniker under which SeattleUte posted at Cougarboard during the Urban Meyer era. He maintained the persona of a BYU fan who was slowly being forced to concede Utah's superiority. It was a good trolling effort, as long as he was able to maintain it.

                      • Chip Brown from inside the war room...

In what would prove to be a pay cut for the current members of the Big 12, it appears the conference will grow to 11 members with the additions of West Virginia and Louisville, a key source with knowledge of the situation told Orangebloods.com Thursday.

The Big 12 presidents are expected to meet Monday to vote on the proposal, which appears to have enough support for formal approval, the source said.

It is being called a compromise by Big 12 sources because the eight current members of the league who plan to stay (excluding Texas A&M and Missouri) were split on whether to simply vote for West Virginia or add Louisville as well.

But Monday's vote could also be the death knell for the Big East, possibly allowing West Virginia and Louisville to get out of their current conference without having to pay exit fees or endure a waiting period. The Big East would be down to four football members (UConn, Rutgers, South Florida and Cincinnati), putting its survival as an automatic qualifying conference in serious jeopardy.

If there's not a conference left to collect exit fees and enforce a 27-month waiting period, then West Virginia and Louisville might bolt for the Big 12 in 2012-13 and take their legal chances, sources said. But those decisions haven't yet been made, sources said.

If the Big 12 had remained at 10 schools (after Missouri leaves for the SEC), the TV revenue payout per school would have been roughly $18 million. But that payout will drop to roughly $16.5 million per school in an 11-team league.

While many BYU fans are hoping to join the Big 12, there does not appear to be an interest in adding a 12th full-membership school at the current time, sources said. The Big 12 is hoping Notre Dame will decide in January to move its non-football sports from the Big East into the Big 12 and agree to play up to six football games against Big 12 schools in the future.

                        Stay tuned. (BROWN)
Chip seems a little off on his math given he assumed that the new members will be given a full share. In year one, the new members will be given only 50% of the full share or around $8.2M. In addition, Mizzou and aTm will be paying the big 12 huge exit fees. In short, the original members will be getting $18M-$20M each in year one even if the Big 12 goes to 11 or 12 teams.

Also, why would the Big East conference be going anywhere any time soon? They still have a bunch of non-football schools and there are reports they are sending out invites for additional football schools to join. In addition, if the Big East did go away then it seems the remanding members could sue for the lost in revenue due to any team bolting early and not waiting the required 27 months.

Executive summary for SU: BYU may be still holding out but will most likely get everything it wants.

Am I missing something? Maybe it is sarcasm, but I didn't get that from reading Chip's report.

No, that is just for SU and no one else.
