But I think 3D's point is that if it was such a deal-killer, why didn't this all die a month ago?Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!
For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.
Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

That CULTural thing you do is solid gold. If you mixed in a YBU and maybe an LD$ every once in a while you'd be an unstoppable force.Originally posted by SeattleUte View PostOkay, I'll go with the Tribunes inside BYU sources and you can make up your own explanations.
I'll go with common sense too. I said a month ago in this hread I didnt see why no Sunday play wasn't a deal killer by itself.

What's with the CULT thing? Neither novel nor funny. What are the chances of BYU fans forcing the issue tothe point that we get Official Declaration 3 which eliminates keeping the sabbath day holy?"Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

The Sunday play issue is a complete red herring. You can take a look at the BYU blogs and message boards about this specific article - absolutely no one believes this [with the exception of a somewhat annoying NorthWestern ute fan]. The BYU alums think their school is trying to pass off a religious reason for the deal not getting done as opposed to a TV/financial reason. Even from a non-BYU perspective (like mine) looking at how this flows, I have a hard time believing that BYU was nixed because ESPN wanted to retain an *option* to play the Big 12 basketball championship game on Sunday even though it hasn't done so since 2008. Besides that, ESPN just signed a TV deal DIRECTLY with BYU and it even raised its rights fees to the WCC specifically BECAUSE BYU was joining that conference for basketball. That doesn't sound like someone that doesn't understand BYU's stances. Maybe Fox had some issues, but someone was clearly spinning things (if not outright lying) about ESPN ever having issues with BYU's Sunday rules.
This paragraph, on the other hand, is closer to the real reason:
"Additionally, BYU ? which left the Mountain West Conference for more national television exposure as a football independent ? apparently wanted assurances from the Big 12 that it would appear on national television a minimum, unspecified, number of times per season. The Cougars also were said to want permission to show their football games not picked up by Big 12 television partners on their own television network, BYUtv, which is available in more than 60 million homes nationwide.""If there is one thing I am, it's always right." -Ted Nugent.
"I honestly believe saying someone is a smart lawyer is damning with faint praise. The smartest people become engineers and scientists." -SU.
"Yet I still see wisdom in that which Uncle Ted posts." -creek.

You are the most obsessed-with-all-things-BYU-Ute-fan I have ever seen. Why so much hate? Time to just move on from whatever it is that made you so bitter towards BYU and the LDS church.Originally posted by SeattleUte View PostOkay, I'll go with the Tribunes inside BYU sources and you can make up your own explanations.

It's just short hand for the well-known reasons the PAC didn't want BYU, handy especially for an iPad keyboard. I meant no offense.Originally posted by Clueless View PostWhat's with the CULT thing? How would you express the concept?

The problem is the definition of the term and its associated characteristics are pretty well known. If an organization fits those definitions, it can be accurately referred to by the term in a non childish way.Originally posted by Clueless View PostWhat's with the CULT thing? If your ideas are any good, you'll have to ram them down people's throats.
