The Big East might end up being the perfect vehicle for the long-speculated conglomeration of the top mid-majors, although it would be an extremely round-about method of getting there.
This is a great idea. This would make it so the five real conferences can have one, nice, concise list of all expansion candidates.

And Nebraska blamed it all on Texas.
The Sooners and Longhorns had also not been in favor of the equalized revenue plan.
So according to Dan Beebe, Nebraska stood in the way...even though Oklahoma and Texas were also not in favor of equal revenue sharing. So let's see, the three most influential institutions all agree on something (unequal revenue sharing) but it's Nebraska's fault. Got it.

Nebraska would have supported equal revenue sharing if its little sisters in the Big 12 North would have supported Nebraska on other issues that were important to Nebraska. They didn't, so Nebraska felt no obligation to fork over money going to Nebraska to other conference members.

Equal revenue sharing in the Big Ten wasn't an issue with Nebraska.

      Hasta La Vista, Beebe.

Maybe Texas was doing the same thing like when they proposed creating a Big 12 Network and it got shot down by the other members.

            • This on again, off again rumor shit is really getting old. Can we just have some closure on this whole mess? I want BYU in the Big 12, I want to see my cougars play and Manhattan and Lawrence, KS and Columbia, MO are all less than three hours away. Iowa State, OU, OSU are about 8 hours, all doable for game day every other year. When it comes down to it, though, the waiting and rumors and speculation are killing me...

Why would the state of Texas get involved with or even care about the affairs of the state of Utah? This is as ridiculous as the LDS church being involved with the affairs of the state of Utah.

LOL. AFA's travel budget is on the tax payer's dime. No wonder they don't care so much about money. The Big East was smart to invite the military academies. They may not care so much about what the Big East pays out.

If Navy and Army join the Big East then the remanding independents should be concerned, IMO.

                    • I'm so burned out by all of this and I have zero energy to even try to talk with anyone about it.

I guess SLC could have woken up to the reality that BYU as an indy is BYU as a shadow of its former self and have potentially gotten "religion".

                      Here's hoping.

I think we all agree they would be foolish not to accept the Big 12 offer. I think anyone not in the PAC-12, BIG, SEC or ACC would be foolish not to accept a Big 12 offer.

                              • So with the SEC presidents meeting in ATL to determine Mizzou's fate, I'm wondering why Mizzou did not have enough votes (allegedly) last week amongst the SEC brass?

Mizzou loves to air its dirty laundry very publicly and it has been vocal about the B1G as its destination of choice. I believe Mizzou has also acknowledged the SEC as a second choice. Given the amount of conference pride in the SEC, I wonder if such posturing has annoyed some of the SEC bigwigs.
