And their changes of going to the Big East are 'slim to none'.

    • Chip Brown on TCU officially accepting Big 12 invite...

Spoiler for DON'T READ DDD!!! YOU DON'T LIKE CHIP BROWN.:

During a formal announcement starting at 6 p.m. CT Monday, TCU officially accepted an invitation to join the Big 12.

The Horned Frogs will be a member of the Big 12 starting on July 1, 2012.

TCU athletic director Chris Del Conte said he expects the Horned Frogs to assume Texas A&M's schedule in football as the Aggies' replacement.

It hasn't been determined yet if Texas and TCU will play on Thanksgiving night. But sources say the Horned Frogs and Texas Tech are candidates.

Del Conte credited his coaches and players for making TCU an attractive expansion candidate and ultimately gave credit to Gary Patterson's successful program for the Big 12's interest.

Del Conte said there would be an exit fee to get out of TCU's previous commitment to the Big East that will come from athletic department revenue, but he wouldn't say if it was the full $5 million.

TCU is likely to be phased in from a TV revenue standpoint, meaning the Horned Frogs won't receive the full $18 million to $20 million in 2012-13, a key source said.

Here is what Mack Brown had to say about the addition of TCU on Monday.

"Gary is a good friend of mine, and TCU fits everything we would want as a staff for our league," Mack said. "We would have loved for the Big 12 to have invited TCU before they did.

"When we were asked, that’s what we said. I think it’s great for our fans. They can drive easily to Fort Worth and maybe folks can see a game that can’t get into the Texas-OU game because they can’t get a ticket.

"Parents will be able to see their sons in another away game. And the players will get home at a decent hour. And if you look at football across the country, TCU has earned that right. I think they are very deserving. I know our staff (is) excited about it."

Sources said Missouri has not been given a deadline to announce if it is staying in or leaving the Big 12.

The SEC presidents announced after a regularly scheduled meeting on Monday that they took no action on expansion.

      Stay tuned.
Hmm... TCU is getting the Utah treatment in the Big 12.

        I know. My fail!

        Thanks for rubbing it in!

And now it comes full circle. This is the financial commitment BYU would have to make. Bastard status.

Not necessarily. Remember how much money BYU is making as an independent (CB said it is $10M). Therefore, BYU may be given the Colorado treatment in the Big 12. This could also be one of those 'issues' as part of BYU's demands.

If we have demands at all, that's just fucking idiotic. Get in now with a bastard role, its temporary.

Independence is the BYUs tahitian noni.

                        • Meanwhile...TCU shows how one should really feel about the B12 invite and we tell them how big we are and how much like ND we should be treated.

Seriously...this is a bad dream come true.

What I liked from the article:

Kansas State coach Bill Snyder said he has "always been in favor of a Big 12 Conference with 12 teams, and two divisions and a championship."
I am confident every school not named Texas or Oklahoma would like to get back to at least 12. We'll see who gets their way.

Not two posts up Doc mentions something to do with mormons and you keep your mouth shut. Seriously. Be consistent.

Instead of telling me shut up and go away, try refuting what I say. Or is this the part where I'm supposed to not point out the obvious because I'm new?

                              • The SEC's 14th member...

Memphis' Application Accepted as SEC's 14th Member

BIRMINGHAM (TSK) -- In a stunning move, the SEC announced today that it has accepted the application of Memphis to become the 14th member of the conference.

"Those Missouri people can't figure out what they want to do in like a nine-hour long meeting, so we figured what the h---?" said a visibly drunk Mike Slive. He then joined the SEC presidents in a slurred rendition of "Go Tigers Go," the Memphis fight song.

Sources inside the SEC indicate that Ole Miss, Kentucky and Vanderbilt pushed hard for the Tigers' inclusion. When asked why, the source simply said: "Have you seen Kentucky play this year?"

Another source indicated that Auburn was no longer willing to move to the SEC East to accommodate the move to 14 teams. "First of all," said the source, who works at Auburn, "we would be giving up a game against Memphis for what -- a game against Vanderbilt. Really?"

Slive told reporters at conference headquarters that move "would add -- well, it will add people. There will now be more people in the SEC. Or something."

The SEC commissioner also told reporters the move meant his conference was "totally completely done" with expansion, then held up crossed fingers.

Missouri said it would now look to join the MAC or "whatever conference will get us out of this sinkhole of a league." Asked whether Conference USA would look to replace Memphis, Commissioner Britton Banowsky responded: "Why bother?"
