Thanks for an answer. That would have been plenty without the added commentary.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostThere is no basis for a discrimination lawsuit. BYU would look stupid to file such a suit. And even if it were somehow successful, it would be a terrible way to join a conference.
Incredibly dumb idea all the way around.

The referenced quote was from the media roundtable last month where Tom Holmoe was answering a question about a Notre Dame style arrangement. He said that no conferences were interested in a scheduling agreement with BYU at this time.Originally posted by The_Douger View PostCan you give some clarification then?"It's devastating, because we lost to a team that's not even in the Pac-12. You are well connected. Do you think Holmoe was misled by ESPN as far as having the ability to get big name schools to play at BYU. I don't mean 1 per year but maybe 2 or 3 and by big name I mean upper half of P5 conferences.Originally posted by kccougar View PostThe referenced quote was from the media roundtable last month where Tom Holmoe was answering a question about a Notre Dame style arrangement. I know Tom and I highly doubt he would have blown smoke up our fannies on his own.

If the other P5 conferences allow the Big 12 to get a championship without 12 members, what was the point of all the stupid expansion? Do Pitt and Syracuse, Rutgers, Maryland, Louisville, TCU and West Virginia bring enough to the table to justify splitting the pie more ways? The whole things is baffling from that perspective.

The out of context take is not that surprising. I was reading/listening to the "Cuts and Quotes" on the ESPN 960 site the other day. Rather than the traditional methodology employed with quotations, seemed like they preferred to throw some quote marks around paraphrased statements.Originally posted by LiveCoug View Post"I think it was King Benjamin who said 'you sorry ass shitbags who have no skills that the market values also have an obligation to have the attitude that if one day you do in fact win the PowerBall Lottery that you will then impart of your substance to those without.'"

I think the Big 10/11/whatever added teams just to add tv markets to get more revenue, not as much to get to a championship game. I have no idea why the big 12 added TCU and WV other than to just stay afloat.Originally posted by New Mexican Disaster View PostIf the other P5 conferences allow the Big 12 to get a championship without 12 members, what was the point of all the stupid expansion? Wasn't TCU B12 conference one true (co-)champions? Or was that Baylor?Originally posted by New Mexican Disaster View PostIf the other P5 conferences allow the Big 12 to get a championship without 12 members, what was the point of all the stupid expansion? That old school Big 8 cartoon is great for those of us who grew up with the league. The artist clearly put a lot of thought into it.Originally posted by Uncle Ted View PostWasn't TCU B12 conference one true (co-)champions? Or was that Baylor?
Maybe 8 is enough.
Oklahoma frowning in the middle because they own the place and everyone knows it.
Nebraska standing next to Oklahoma, but annoyed with upstart Colorado.
Colorado thinking they can play with the Big 2.
Kansas only caring about Missouri.
Missouri knowing they are supposed to care about Kansas, but secretly hating Nebraska more.
Oklahoma State marginalized and bitter towards big Brother Oklahoma for not paying more attention to them.
Kansas State cross eyed in the background because they would get lost heading from the locker room to the field.
I really miss the Big 8. Feel free to move this post to the "Nebraska is effing weird" thread.

Excellent descriptions. Especially with the omission of Iowa St. who is looking at everyone else and wondering if he is really invisible.
