The Big 12 Conference Board of Directors conducted a teleconference meeting today to discuss the future of the Conference given recent developments regarding Texas A&M University.
The Board strongly conveyed to Texas A&M its unanimous desire that it remain a Big 12 member, and acknowledged its value to the Conference. The Board noted that Texas A&M expressed concerns about institutional networks and that the athletics directors worked together and took actions, which the Board has approved, to adequately address those concerns.
The other nine members reaffirmed their long term, unconditional and unequivocal commitments made to each other and the Conference last summer. Although the Board hopes Texas A&M remains in the Conference, the Board is prepared to aggressively move forward to explore expansion opportunities. In doing so, the Board recognizes the strength of the Big 12 Conference national brand and the opportunity to capitalize on it.
so what does this mean, exactly? Are they expanding to get back to 12, or are they only looking for aTm's replacement?

Knock it off. This board has enough problems without a dose of middle-age lechery.
I am totally lost in this whole thing. I don't know if the Big 12 came calling it would be good to leave or not.
I would hope in this whole thing Holmoe and the administration would be looking out for the fans. I would hope they think the fans deserve decent teams in LES. I mean real decent teams, not UCF and a Houston or renewed game with AFA as counting as real decent games.
I am not going to worry to much over it and just observe what happens in the scheduling in 2013 and 2014. I am OK to become a TV watching fan if it comes to that.
The B12 publicly acknowledges that aTm adds value to the conference?
I previously admired aTm's effort to give the Texas legislature the runaround. But after reading this press release and considering Aggie's longstanding inferiority complex, I am given to agree with niku's recent pronouncement re: Texas A&M. He called them something but i can't remember what....although I totally agree.
What a bunch of insecure little brother crybaby what-niku-called-them.
If they want some respect, they should go back to being a Top 20 team on a regular basis. Short of that, going to the SEC to be traded around for magazines and cartons of cigarettes isn't going to do anything for Aggie's self esteem.

Yea, I might be ignorant, but Texas A&M would never come up in a conversation about teams I would like to get in LES.

aTm is posturing big time right now because they have a good team returning this year. They are all over every preseason publication, and they are getting some national title consideration for the first time in a decade. They are trying to capitalize on this now before they actually play a game and we realize that the Ghose of Mike Sherman is still the coach and this is still the same 7-5 team it has been for the past 10 years.
[QUOTE=TripletDaddy;634235]I sure liked the last time they played in Provo!
Yep it was great and I think they had better teams back then. Detmer didn't have fun against them.
Let me make this clear, I would be happy to see them on the schedule at LES given who I see on it now. However, no more happy than if I saw OSU, Washington, Arizona, ASU, Louisville, Pitt, North Carolina, Texas Tech. et. al.
There is a different level that I talk about on a "wish" list.
Why was the stadium so empty for this game? Seems like a game against a Big 12 team would have brought out the fans...
This season was the first season of my mission. I have never seen this game. Or any other games from that season, for that matter. Dang. I should hit up BYUtv.org right now!

I remember it being full. It was the first game of the entire college football season...the pigskin classic or whatever it was called. Maybe all students weren't back yet? Again, my recollection was it being full. Anyone else?

I am trying to think of a pejorative worse than "aggies" but I am coming up blank.

I remembered it being full as well. When I saw this video last week the other time it was posted, I was shocked to see the empty corners.

But Jesse Palmer likes them!

Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.
