ND is in the same situation and you can mark my words. If they bolt independence, the ACC is their #1 target. There are to many ND alumn in ACC land, and including the admin of ND, who believe their culture and acadmeics are more in par with the ACC then any other conference (specifically Duke, NC, etc). The only thing that will keep them from joining the ACC is if they will loose to much money joining. But the ACC out of any of the BCS conferences will allow them to keep their own TV contract with NBC, a luxury they won't get in the B12, B10, or any other BCS conference. ND however is like BYU, they are still committed to Independence, and that should tell you something about BYU's chance of maintaining Independence.

At this point, I'm hoping for an announcement that BYU is in and to have Neinas/Bowlby say "...and there were no leaks." But I have no faith it'll actually happen, and I fear independence is the way of the future.

No kidding. He pretty much lost all credibility with that statement. I can't see ND headed anywhere else, unless the B1G negotiates itself out of the picture.

It didn't make sense to expand from 10 and take two schools that were not rivals and geographically from the same area.

It absolutely made sense because the PAC was in the middle of negotiating a new TV deal and would get a huge bump in the TV $ if they had a CCG. That's the reason for moving to 12 and why it made sense. Unless the TV networks come back to the PAC and tell them that they are going to make significantly more per team by adding Fresno and Boise (or SDSU, BYU, etc), they'll sit at 12. There's no reason the HAVE to go to 16 just because the Jones did.

They are idiotic. I fall in the camp of supporting BYU more than criticizing, but it's still a stupid post. The one in response telling people who are not busy whining to go support SVU is marginally more stupid.
