Seriously? I knew lots of people in my student wards that held that rule. It was a parade of piety every Sunday....people refusing to study, people refusing to watch TV, people refusing to listen to music. Not everyone, of course, but there were plenty.

I generally didn't study on Sundays, either. Of course, I tried to avoid studying on Friday and Saturday, too. I covered all Sabbath bases, just in case Mormonism doesnt turn out to be the correct answer.

My favorites were people bearing their testimony that not studying on Sunday helped them do better...
Don't worry about people stealing your ideas. If your ideas are any good, you'll have to ram them down people's throats.

I'd say when I was at BYU people with the no study on Sunday policy numbered about 1 out of every 25 people or so.

However, the number of people that said they had that policy and actually held to it, was more like 1 in 2500.

            • No Sunday play is like if BYU were a guy, and there was this girl who was interested in him, but BYU was gay, so nothing can happen between them. No Sunday play is an insoluble structural impediment though people don't talk about it much.

                That was subtle.

                      lol.

For decades, the Utes were dating a gay guy according to his rules.

But now the Utes are straight. Amazing what a few years of electroshock therapy can do.

This reply has given me a moment of clarity – yeah, even an epiphany of sorts. I have wondered at what point I became a skeptic. It must have been when I would skip church at BYU to study.

My roommates would sneak into girls apartments during church and cook themselves lunch using the girls food. I know that one time they cooked steak mashed potatoes and salad. They would clean the dishes and have everything back in order by the time church ended. There were a lot of pissed off girls in the ward thinking that another girl at her food.
