    On the U, baby!

Well our introduction to Independence sucked ass, so I am not real heartbroken that we put it out to pasture. It served its purpose for a season, quite literally.

Oh, I think BYU is heading to the Big-12 but I don't expect a presser at either time. I don't think anyone will plan that specifically until it is all signed and nothing will be signed until all the existing Big-12 schools have signed their rights over and that ain't happening at least until the Mizzou Museum leaders have their meeting.

But to have it on such a high profile gig as the U at 10:00pm Eastern time makes at least one of my nipples hard!

I just think the term "championship caliber" is being used a bit too loosely. The 1984 BYU team by default was "championship caliber" and I think they had a good shot at defeating other top teams that year like Oklahoma or Washington. Although the 1983 team may have been as good or better than the 1984 team, the competition in 1983 was much, much stiffer. In my view, they don't have "a good shot" at defeating any of the teams ranked above them. Same goes for 1996, I doubt BYU wins against any of the other six ranked teams in the table. Impossible to prove - just an oppossing opinion.

      • As DDD said, BYU already has just about everything they need in the way of facilities and as cj points out, that was all done with private dollars - no "church" funds.

The new videoboard will go in after this season and will be 100 feet wide.

The new basketball practice facility hasn't been publically announced, but it has already been approved.

I'm wondering where they will build it? Any possibility that they simply use part of the existing MC parking lot?

Just depends on one's perspective. Improvements can always be made. And there's a big difference between "need" and "want". If one thinks BYU's facilities are OK, all one has to do is to take a glimpse of the Texas Longhorn locker room to see the possibilities.

Have you seen BYU's player locker rooms? They're pretty nice.

              • This is the Texas longhorn locker room. In typical Texas fashion, it is bigger but just as ugly.

Both locker rooms look like they are annexed to the main school library. I bet those lockers were used to store textbooks at one point.

Locker rooms in general are basically utilitarian and unsightly. Who wants to lounge around in a smelly locker room?

Patterned after the Philadelphia Eagles' locker room, where Chad Lewis used to live.

Not sure about the smell, but it's not uncommon to have video games, big screen TV's and other ammenities in big program college locker rooms. Makes me wonder why a football player would leave the locker room to go to his dorm...or class.

                    • I want visitor lockerrooms like they have at Iowa. Pink toilets aren't cheap.

(I had a professor who wrote a scathing article about this, BTW. Inexplicably, she was not offered tenure at Iowa and now teaches in New Hampshire).

right, i agree. Im just saying the texas locker room and the BYu locker room both look like boring ugly rooms to me. If you move the video games to another room, nobody would care about those locker rooms. And why are they always made of that ugly light colored wood? reminds me of the library.

As is often the case, Im not even sure what point Im making right now

Your point is that you hate Texas. That's OK. We understand.

Chad Lewis lived in a locker room? I bet that was complicated when he had woman over.

                              • Latest rumors have WV as a done deal to SEC, leaving the big 12 to invite byu, louisville and Cincinnati.

Not big on Cincinnati that just seems like a throw away to get to 12.
