Good point... the timing of this article seems pretty interesting... maybe I'm just reading into this too much. I just know you have two Cougar maniacs at KSL, Greg and Andrew Adams, and it seems like Adams has been playing the "read anything possible" game like the rest of us, while Greg has been playing quiet. I can't help but wonder what Greg knows, the man is better connected to the inside than anybody, and if anyone knows anything (outside of the big three) I'd imagine it'd be him.Originally posted by myboynoah View PostBecause as GN suggests, later on this week he'll be writing about how BYU was tough in the negotiations, holding true to its principles and the things that are most important to the university: no sunday play, security, and exposure. It will surely move us all, even more so because BYU will be in the Big 12.
In fact, I bet this story shows up in some YM instruction book some years down the road.
But I think you make an interesting point. Wrubell and Harmon, the two "journalists" closest to the program, have produce practically nothing on this whole episode. Given their friendly relationship with the BYU, I think that speaks volumes.
But no doubt they already have a number of stories written and ready for print.

I assume you mean the Godhead? I'd never heard of them referenced as such prior to your post; but if you don't mind, I'd like to use it.Originally posted by PolyCougar View PostGood point... the timing of this article seems pretty interesting... maybe I'm just reading into this too much. Too funny man... if it's those Big 3 making decisions for BYU Football... well... then it must be a slow period for God duties. People can point to heaven as much as they want when they score... I still don't think he cares.Originally posted by HBCoug View PostI assume you mean the Godhead? Why would we ever leave?
This is, you know, Dr Phog Allen's Big 6. We're right in the middle of the heat. We've got Tech in here this week then we head down to Stoolwater then we've got OU back up here in Larryville. Hopefully, this cool weather continues and the Gooners get a 35 degree 11am start in beautiful Kansas Memorial Stadium. The Hawks always play the Dirt Burglars tough in Lawrence. Who would leave this football paradise except the stupid Slavers?Originally posted by Goatnapper'96 View PostI can't take many more end of the week decisions. Is Mizzou the last Big-12 team to throw a temper tantrum? Will Kansas need its inner thigh stroked and will it try to leverage its hoops program into joining the other 25 Big East hoop schools?
I want closure and to feel the big bosoms of Oprah hugging my sobbing soul!
KU will ride the Big 12 to the end. It's our conference. We're the backbone. We're why the dam thing simply won't go away despite machinations of the Whorns, the Corn, the Gooners, the Buffs and the Dog Worshipers. BYU may be enticed into the conference by glory down south, but they'll find no better business partners than w/ the Jayhawks.

Missoura ain't going anywhere.
Only Nebraskans would believe the Mulleted Minions circle jerk over on tiggerboard. Gary 'the Pickle' has absolutely no desire to be cut off from recruiting Texas, and Missoura has no desire to recruit in the manner required in the SEC. And if ESPN pushes all the right buttons and crams the Superconferences down our throats, they'll have a much better shot at the Big 10 paired w/ KU.Originally posted by Paperback Writer View PostMizzou is having trouble reading the tea leaves, crystal ball, palm lines, weegie board, whatever...
If Missouri had a choice between the Big12, SEC, and Big Ten; it would be the Big Ten and they wouldn't stop to think about it. But the Big Ten may never invite and the SEC possibility is out there right now.
I also think the six-year term is problematic for the Tigers. They would probably be OK with four years since the Notre Dame contract with NBC ends in 2015. Then again, the Irish just might stay independent after 2015.
The Big 12 really needs Missouri. And Missouri probably knows that they will suck more in the SEC then Texas A&M. Now that the consequences for leaving the Big 12 will be severe with the loss of T1 and T2 media rights, Mizzou doesn't know what to do. They would be given serious Big Ten consideration if they joined with Notre Dame but much less without the Irish.
Besides, how could the Slavers leave the Border WAR?

Mullets, Slavers, Minions, and Circle jerking, all in one post... dude I hope we get in the Big 12 just so you have a reason to keep hanging around. It's all there for ya'll. Honestly, the Big 12 has no more problems w/ BYU's cultural values than it does w/ the Baylor Bears Baptist culture. It's kinda interesting and that's about it. What the Big 12 needs more than anything is a brand name to take a chance on it and get it to believe in itself again. BYU Football is that brand name w/ a MNC, QB U, LaVelle Edwards, etc etc. What the Big 12 offers BYU is a shot at the big boys year in and year out. Since my freshman year at KU in 1985, I've sat in Memorial Stadium and watched four Heisman trophy winners (Sanders/Salamm/Couch/Williams) play football, coaching legends like the Bucktoothed Wizard/Bootleggers Boy/DOCTOR Tom Osborne/Coach Mac and 7 MNC teams (85, 00 Gooners/90 Buffs/94,96,97 Corn/05 Whorns). And that list doesn't include other memorable characters like the Boz, Jamielle Holloway, Vince Young, Eric Bienemy, Michael Bishop, Darren Sproles (who should've won the Heisman in 03), etc etc. I don't know what long term season ticket holders BYU have seen over the last twenty years, but that list would be hard to top.Originally posted by Goatnapper'96 View PostWell all that and the reality that the midwestern schools are probably the remaining small group that would abide a "University" sponsored by the LDS Church. The reality is the Big-12 needs to expand and BYU presents a compelling case financially for the Big-12, the challenge for BYU is its baggage and non-negotiables. That baggage and BYU's values are just not as offensive to Midwestern farmers daughters who make you feel allright!
Just as Utah wanting to run around with a bunch of dope smoking hippies is a good fit for the vision Utah has of itself, the Big-12 is a good fit for BYU. We all overestimate our place in the world!

It comes pretty easy w/ regards to the Slavers.

Dead serious business between the Jayhawkers and the Bushwackers. 150 years on and our politicians still take potshots at each other. There is nothing like the Border WAR. One day Hollywood will finally make a movie about Bloody Kansas and portray Cap'n Brown properly: the gawd fearing Calvinist who stood up to the bastards and saved America from itself. Til then, Kansas will carry on the fight to keep American safe from Missoura.

Missouri can't be all that bad, they did give us Brad Pitt... granted he dropped out two weeks before his degree... and this is coming from a Mormon, who Missouri had an extermination order out (OK to kill a Mormon) until 1976.Originally posted by Red Legger View Posthttp://www.lostlettermen.com/9-18-20...nsas-jayhawks/

Now let's just hope our administration follows.Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!
For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.
Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

Dick knows who butters his bread.Originally posted by Goatnapper'96 View PostHarmon is the ultimate homer. He is late to the party so his contribution is to begin a spin that BYU was able to strongarm the Big-12 and get its wish list fulfilled. I would almost think he was reading your posts today about Utah agreeing to not get paid by the Pac-12 until the 1st year of Romney's second term in office!
We must have entered into a safe zone of speculation, meaning something is reasonably close, up or down.
