If the Big 12 is saved I think OU comes out of this the big winner.

They might actually win a game of chicken with Texas, get their own network, stay in the Big 12 (which is where they truly want to be), and while they may not actually pass Texas for ultimate control in the conference, the other 8 members will owe their very livelihoods to them.

This is posturing, I'm absolutely convinced of it.

No, it's not. It's a UCLA button Photoshopped to make it a Utah button. We had to use some black to make it work. It's in honor of this weekend's game right here in my home town against U$C. DDD got the joke immediately. I thought you were from Southern California?

I've been told that BYU does not have an offer on the table from the Pac. The only offer on the table is from the Big XII. It was reiterated to me what I had previously heard, BYU will not be in the same conference as Stanford and Cal until they soften their position toward the Church. BYU is not going to the Pac and neither is anyone else from the Big XII.

From you it would be speculation. From me ...

So how much of a competitor is Dave Rose? He may be looking at KU, KSU, OU, OSU, UT TT, UM, Louiville, and Pitt all as conference foes.

I would probably pee myself in excitement... can you imagine Kansas in the Marriott Center? A schedule like that would make 20,000 the norm in that place. BYU basketball would be a dream, and no offense to the PAC, but nothing that goes to the Huntsman Center could really match that regular season.

I honestly like independence for Football, but I just want to see Dave Rose take on the Big 12 (and if Louisville and Pitt got in... good heavens). I'm sure there'd be a learning curve but I think we'd hang with the conference. Plus, I love Kansas City BBQ-ing... I would be there for that tournament every year.

Yeah, but not as good as Oklahoma Joe's.

Katz says Big 12 will pursue BYU as a 10th member if Oklahoma commits to stay in the conference

Meanwhile, if Oklahoma commits to the Big 12 and Texas A&M leaves for the SEC, the Big 12 is going to pursue BYU as a 10th member, according to the source. The source said there was strong interest from the Cougars prior to last week's comments from Oklahoma president David Boren that the Sooners were exploring their options. BYU, formerly of the Mountain West, is an independent in football and its other remaining sports compete in the West Coast Conference.
