Hypothetically speaking, couldn't the B12 look to add BYU for all sports to replace aTm, and then bring in say a Notre Dame and say a Boise State as football only members? ND gets to keep their Big East rivalries, the Big 12 doesn't have to deal with the remaining crappy Boise sports outside of football (assuming they ditch the ugly blue rug)... Just a thought.Originally posted by oxcoug View PostPure hypo: If I am the B12 and the ND, Ark, Pitt options don't work out I might look at inviting UCF and South Florida.
Sure, weaker younger sisters in the Florida world, but both programs that have made huge strides, been competitive recxently and it gives the B12 a kind of counterattack - you come into Texas, we'll come into Florida.
As will be noted, I am not the B12.

Yeah, but then where do Boise's remaining sports play? They couldn't stay in the MWC.Originally posted by Sizzle View PostHypothetically speaking, couldn't the B12 look to add BYU for all sports to replace aTm, and then bring in say a Notre Dame and say a Boise State as football only members? Not that we don't know this, but apparently after the conference call today, A&M is letting everyone know they will make it official this week,

Notre Dame(Big 10 vs Big 12) choice
This is what Notre Dame gets in the Big 10:
Only 3 OOC games to work with in maintaining traditonal rivalries and creating schedule flexiblity.
No opportunity to have an outside TV deal.
No opportunity to create a Notre Dame sports network.
No unequal revenue sharing + 3rd tier rights to increase revenue.
Only a 1/12 say in conference policy/changes.
Overall-less money(or similar), less exposure, less control, and less flexibility.
This is what they get in the Big 12:
More revenue from unequal revenue sharing.
Chance to maintain NBC contract.
Chance to create Notre Dame sports network.
Possibility of 5 OOC games to help Notre Dame continue traditional rivalries and have schedule flexibility.
Opportunity to expand recruiting in Texas by playing Texas schools and Oklahoma regularly.
Large say in all conference policy/changes.
Overall-more money, more exposure, more control, more flexibility.
The Big 10 vs Big 12 debate for Notre Dame is a lot more realistic than some posters think.
