How is the Big-12 going to move forward? Is it likely the add none, one or 3 teams?

I am thinking BYU's chances are best if the Big-12 chooses either of the last two scenarios I outlined!

I would think that the Big-12 has known about this for probably the last year and that the replacement(s) are already primed. Clearly, BYU fans seem to think that will include them but are any other fanbases that confident? I think BYU keeps their lid tighter than the Orem 453rd ward Laurel President thighs' on Prom night, but most other schools tend to be about as tight as Babs' sorierity sisters' thighs on a Saturday night. I would think that now would be the time to jump back to 12, but that would have to include Notre Dame and someone else. Is anyone out there that confident? I hope BYU's is legitimate.

Next couple of weeks should be fun!

Why on earth do some of you think they will say no? I get the control issue, but these guys follow $$$ and the real decision makers are likely Holmoe, Bronco and Dave Rose.

What in the history of BYU sports causes one to think BYU would say no?

I would think FSU and Louisville are the likely other candidates as both have a natural rivalry in the SEC and clearly FSU's conference rival in the ACC is headed to a decade of some issues.

if anything we have learned that BYU sports is about the church, I just feel it in my gut that they'll be "inspired" to stay independent.

Sunday play is the one thing that can derail this.

I think I agree with Goatnapper '96 on this. I don't think it was the big guys at that COB that made the push for independence. I think I recall hearing that they took the recommendation from the BYU that this would be better for the school and they went with it. If BYU makes a new recommendation that the B12 is better than independence, why wouldn't the COB agree?

Baseball games will be played on alternate Tuesdays at midnight and incense will be used in all of leagues fog machines. Refs/umps will genuflex before every call and all trees on campus will be scoured for knots that resemble the Virgin Mary.

                      It's a red herring, people.

I agree about that. I think that if that were an impediment we would know that BYU was off the table months ago. I don't think the Big-12 views it as an impediment.

I just honestly don't understand the hand-wringing that BYU would say to the Big-12 "no thanks!" BYU has always demonstrated the desire for more exposure and a higher profile. Clearly, the folks who understand the ins and outs of college sports at BYU (Holmoe, Mendenhall, Rose and to a lesser extent Cecil O.) know that this would be beneficial to the bottom line financially and maximize exposure and BYU's profile. Mormons love that shit. If they can have it while being excused from Sunday play, which brings all sorts of attention to their sunday play excusal, it would make their nipples hard enough to pole vault.

I think as long as BYU can keep its Sabbath Day holy, the BYU admin will view it as a no-brainer and I struggle understanding why others think they might.

Not a chance. SLC is all over this one.

Edit: I agree that BYU will jump at a resonable Big12 offer should it come, but it will be because SLC wants it.

It is all these disaffected intellectuals who have built up, in their own frenzied minds, some strange expectations of the BYU decision makers.

Do they not bleed when they are cut? If they have lung issues and have to pump some shitty ass schwinn all around East Germany, dodging unexploded ordinance, to deliver laundy are they not miraculously healed? Are not they disproportionatly represented by University Presidents who understand the bottom line$$? Will it not cause the Aggie faithful to turn into stringpulling male camel toe bitches whose packages would make the singers of Air Supply feel like they skydiving naked from an Aeroplane like Utah's old Offensive Coordinator?

Yea in all things BYU to the Big-12 will accomplish God's eternal purposes!
