I was aware of ESPN's contractual pro-rata clause and Fox's approval of Colorado for increasing their payout, too, but I hadn't heard anything about the limit on additions to the conference. It makes sense to me, but I just hadn't seen that reported anywhere.

Suffering family, and people who grew up in the same neighbourhoods and who went to the same high schools is not slumming. Hades, if that was slumming, then what am I doing hereOriginally posted by Jeff Lebowski View Post
If you don't like schadenfreude, it must have been torture for you slumming on that utah board for so many years after they joined the P12 and BYU was left out.
.
But what I do find insufferable is BYU fans failing to come to terms with the reality that BYU was NEVER going to be invited to the PAC10. BYU admin came to terms with it long ago and acted accordingly. They leveraged the PAC12's hubris to their advantage. And now BYU will just move on. So should its fans IMO. But it is likely just me that feels that way, and that's OK.
To reiterate: Oregon and Washington aren't getting a B1G invite. The B1G can wait on Notre Dame and the ACC's demise. They will always then be able to add Stanford and Cal at their leisure. There is no value in adding Oregon and Washington until the ACC dominos fall. Oregon and Washington better act quickly.

BYU fans are thrilled right now that we are in the B12 and not going down with the P12 ship. What are you talking about?"There is no creature more arrogant than a self-righteous libertarian on the web, am I right? Those folks are just intolerable."

It makes sense there is a limit. I have also read somewhere it is only two teams.Originally posted by Pelado View PostI was aware of ESPN's contractual pro-rata clause and Fox's approval of Colorado for increasing their payout, too, but I hadn't heard anything about the limit on additions to the conference. Of course they are, and so they should be. But many are revelling in the misery of Ute fans who now are in a weird limbo. Utah could well get an invite and join BYU in the BIG12, or even (less plausibly) an invite to the B1G. I prefer to follow the lead of Holmoe and BYU admin. They played the PAC like a fiddle and are now moving on.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View Post

I can see the anger at Colorado but what was BYU's role in this? Just existing?
Lol. What a clown.
I just figure that uofutah fans are always just pissed off at BYU's awesomeness.Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

I don't see Utah joining the B12 as likely. Utah is not a large market and they already have BYU. If they can't get Oregon/UW, they will likely bide their time and wait for the ACC to break up. BY hasn't made a bad decision yet, I don't see him messing up this one.Originally posted by tooblue View Post

You are likely right. Staying at 13 though isn't ideal. Adding UCONN is intriguing, but I think you get the same value in adding Arizona. I think that is most likely the next move.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View Post

Don't forget that Arizona is a basketball school. That will factor in the decision."There is no creature more arrogant than a self-righteous libertarian on the web, am I right? Those folks are just intolerable."

So far all three regents that have discussed the matter have indicated their intentions to vote yes on the move. No no votes yet!Originally posted by Joe Public View PostI turned on the CU meeting. It is a vote to go to the Big 12.
Edit: That is two more yes votes! 5-0 for the XII.
Edit: roll call! So exciting!

The P12 was not in any danger of imploding before BYU's invite. If USC/UCLA would have defected right after Texas/Oklahoma, the P12 would have cannibalized the B12 instead of the other way around. This is what makes the Big 12's resurgence so remarkable. BY's leadership has been as impressive as Larry Scott and GK's is incompetent.Originally posted by Green Monstah View PostBYU is fortunate. If the P12 began to implode before BYU’s invite, we may still be on the outside looking in.
Edit: but yes I do agree we are fortunate. But the really delicious part is it's the arrogance of the Pac 12 (with Utah's full participation drinking the kool-aid) that led directly to BYU's invite and set the stage for the solidfying of the B12 and implosion of the P12.
