BYU should continue to stand for what it believes in but recognize those stances have consequences and be willing to accept those consequences. One of those consequences is not being invited to the PAC-12.

I was never a supporter of our involvement in Prop 8, but the motivations were certainly religious, and discriminating for religious ideas is bigotry, plain and simple.

What changes with the MWC being on track to get an auto-bid? The MWC auto-bid will be a lot easier to win than the P12 one. Even without an auto bid the at large is easier to get than a second bid from the P12.

Absolutely. BYU is coming out ahead in this one. Utah's just been promoted to doormat of the Pac-10. Utah may get lucky and get a BCS bid if they can win the conference, but that's nothing new. And they're not going to get a national title shot out of this deal.

I just don't see us losing a lot of recruits to Utah because of this. Maybe one every few years. Our recruiting base is still true blue raised on BYU kids where Utah is only nominally in the picture. Our only comparative disadvantage now is lack of visibility (compared to Utah in a Pac12), and this just may be overcome by BCS appearances every third year. Don't get me wrong--I'd switch places with Utah in a second, but that's mostly for the travel and the opponents. I certainly don't see the death of BYU football.

I agree. I guess people get upset about the money, that Utah will now have access to a lot more funds. But that hasn't helped any number of schools out there all that much. BYU, BSU, TCU, and Utah have done pretty well in spite of the handicap. I don't see why that should change.

Eventually, it all comes down to how you perform on the field.

I don't think the Arizonas are a good comparison.

Things were a lot different in the 70s. With the reduction of scholarships to 85 in the early 90's the playing field became much more level between the haves and the have nots.
