I'm not sure Utah would or could take Langi right now. They've only got 5 or 6 slots left for the 2011 class and have bigger needs."They're good. They've always been good" - David Shaw.
Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

Even assuming we have space, he'll elect to go elsewhere. I like our chances with Matthews, though. That's probably the true head-to-head battle in this class.Originally posted by DrumNFeather View PostI'm not sure Utah would or could take Langi right now. Rivals has Wyoming as a "Medium" interest level for Langi. Way to go Wyoming.

I don't know if it is bad or good and won't for a few years, but I think that not only in comparison to last year but in general it is a bit uninspiring at this point in time. I don't get too worked up over recruiting for just one season. I do trust Mendenhall, his track record speaks for itself but it seems that this isn't a year to get real excited about the new blood. There isn't one committ that I would project to contribute in 2011 at this point in time.Originally posted by HBCoug View PostIs it just me or has BYU been getting its ass kicked in recruiting this year? I know last year was the anomoly given the level of LDS talent out there and the fact Scout's #1 QB prospect and his family were the most effective recruiters we've had in a long time, but this year seems particularly bad at a glance. Granted, I haven't followed as closely this year but my quick-and-lazy synopsis says we've basically verballed the entire Bingham and Timpview DLines and pulled in the brother of a former Olineman from out of state. (Edit: I forgot about Pulispher and Lene). Still...kind of weak sauce. I guess Matthews is an old fashioned Utah/BYU battle and Langi is an out-of-state lean. I'm choosing to mostly ignore your fatuity here and instead overwhelm you with so much data that you'll maybe, just maybe, realize that you have reams to read on this subject before you can contribute meaningfully to any conversation on this topic.

Utah can not afford to pass on a top 10 national running back. No matter the needs. They may have to do some shuffling but if Langi came at the 11th hour they find a spot for him.Originally posted by DrumNFeather View PostI'm not sure Utah would or could take Langi right now. I'm sure that if he does not come we will not want him.Originally posted by cougjunkie View PostUtah can not afford to pass on a top 10 national running back. No matter the needs. I doubt Langi is stupid enough to go to a program that has just punched a one way ticket to the bottom of the PAC12.Originally posted by cougjunkie View PostUtah can not afford to pass on a top 10 national running back. Utah is doomed. Langi knows that.

Wyoming has made a big push this year and last to recruit poly kids. It will be interesting to see what happens with that programOriginally posted by scottie View PostRivals has Wyoming as a "Medium" interest level for Langi. Way to go Wyoming.

That said, he definitely looked a step slow against the Texas HS team last year. That's a different level of athleticism, explains the Texas pipeline for Utah."Either evolution or intelligent design can account for the athlete, but neither can account for the sports fan." - Robert Brault

Yes, the Euless Trinity defense didn't give him much wiggle room and also lectured Bingham on how to run on the other side of the ball. Of course, Euless is a good HS team in North Texas and only lost to our local Allen Eagles last season.Originally posted by Ma'ake View PostThe Utes would find a spot for Langi, IMO.

Utah is doing well with recruiting from Texas. I think I counted 14 Texans on their roster for this year compared to BYU's four. It will be interesting to see if Utah can keep recruiting players from here after they start traveling more to the west."If there is one thing I am, it's always right." -Ted Nugent.

The overall team speed of that Texas team was pretty dang good.Originally posted by Ma'ake View PostThe Utes would find a spot for Langi, IMO.

I personally don't think that any of these colleges are recruiting Langi to be a blazer or that quick change it up type back. Langi is a lot like Unga. He is a bigger back that has really good speed and is going to be tough to bring down and will be back that will be able to churn out 4 to 5 yards consistently and will have plays where he breaks a few for 15 to 20 yards.
Langi will be a great get for whoever gets him. Utah should be making a strong push for him. He has offers from multiple Pac-10 schools right now and Utah shouldn't want a team that they will be playing every year come 2011 to still someone that has his type of ability right out of their backyard. The state of Utah doesn't produce talent like Langi often. I hope the Utes can keep him home."Take it to the Bank"
