BYU landed Alex Kuresa today. He is the younger brother of former cougar Jake Kuresa.

Alex is 6' 175 pounds, plays quarterback. Last year for Mt. Crest he threw for 3,550 yards, 39 tds, completed 68 percent of his passes and he also ran for 500 yards and 5 more touchdowns. I think BYU gives him a shot at QB but he may need to grow a little (He has a sister that is 6', Jake is 6'5, and both his parents are very tall, so hopefully he is not done growing).
I watched Alex in the 4A HS semifinals and finals this weekend. He runs the point for Mountain Crest. They upset Provo in the semis. Kyle Collinsworth had ~30 points, but he should have passed less and scored more. Nobody else on his team could make a shot. But I digress... Anyway, Kuresa and his fellow Mustangs lost to Timpview in the finals. Kind of ironic considering that for the last three years in a row, MC has lost to Timpview in the state semi-finals in football. Those poor Logan kids - they must have nightmares about Timpview. You should have seen the signs they were holding up. Almost as if they knew they were going to lose.

Kuresa is a decent guard, but holy cow did he look tiny out there. I can't believe he got a D-1 football scholarship.

BYU gets a verbal commit from Nike Camp MVP Adam Pulsipher.

      Junior year highlights:

He looks a little better than your average two start recruit.

What does "Nike Camp MVP" mean?
          Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

I assume he was a stand out in the first camp at BYU.

Interesting thing regarding Pulsipher he will not be here until January 2012. He is going to greyshirt his first season because BYU does not have a schollie for him.

Corbon Kaufusi (Son of DL Coach Steve Kaufusi) gave his verbal to BYU.

I can't find much on Corbon. Has anyone seen him play?

I think this is one where being a coach's kid got him a scholarship. I would bet that it will only be a full scholarship too if BYU doesn't have someone else for it come signing time.

Just about every Kaufusi on the planet is a D-1 athlete.

So you disagree with what I said?

I know nothing about this kid, but I'm willing to believe he is probably a D-1 athlete simply based on the fact that his brother, father and about 25 uncles have all been scholarship D-1 athletes.

He's got good size and is a good athlete (plays basketball too) but I don't think he'll contribute much. I hope I'm wrong.

Here is a nice article on BYU's new JC transfer, DeQuan Everett (CB, 6'2", 203 lbs, 4.38 40).

I saw something on CB about this guy... here is it. Seems like BYU has lowered its standards for a decent corner.

He's a very intriguing addition. I think BYU is going to do a more press coverage this year than they've done in a very long time.

And not just more press coverage, maybe we could see some more aggressive blitzes.
