I am getting excited for LOI Day. I am going to work from home...er.......telecommute. I know a couple of other Cuffers will be telecommuting tomorrow, as well.

Anyone else jumping on the LOI Day bandwagon?

Of the different schools represented on CUF, I know SC, Utah, BYU, and Texas should have nice days tomorrow. I haven't really been following Oklahoma or Boise State's recruiting, so I have no clue what they are going to do..although I keep seeing OU's name in the Top 10 rankings, so I assume they are up to their usual February chicanery. I haven't heard a lot about Oregon's class, but the few that I have heard are definitely nice gets (Lake C-strunk, for example). I am going to predict that Owa spurns the Ducks and goes East to Lincoln, becoming a Husker.

My final CUF class predictions for tomorrow:

    1. Texas
    2. USC
    3. Okahoma
    4. BYU
    5. Oregon
    6. Utah
    7. Boise State

I read yesterday that Owa has already eliminated Oregon. His final three are Nebraska, UCLA and Oregon State.

I had read something similar a few weeks ago, but then he changed his mind again at put Oregon back on.

Since it is his home, it is always going to be a factor, I would guess, so I am not entierly counting out O until the end.

If the scout article is true, then Owa is a Husker lock. It makes no sense to go to the Beavs over the Zeros. And I won't even dignify the fucla thing with a comment. In fact, local word is that Hayes Pullard is now a fucla de-co and will sign with SC instead....this would be a huge coup for Kiff and a big deal at Crenshaw, which is a decidedly fucla pipeline and has been for years. If you do to Crenshaw, you become a bruin. If you go to Dorsey, you become a Trojan.

It is interesting to note the impact that Suh continues to have for the Huskers....were it not for him, I doubt Nebraska lands Owa. He would likely be a Duck.

ha. whoops, sorry. I forgot that you post here fairly regularly now. It was not meant as a slight against the Luckeyes.

Obviously I would rank tOSU pretty high up there.

The big question mark is Seantrel. This kid better make an impact for all this hype he is receiving.

Seantrel is going to pull an Anthony Davis and stay in state and go to Minny.

Anyone remember when Anthony Davis spurned every big school in America to stay home and attend Rutgers?

Worked out alright, he may not have received the hype if he had gone somewhere else but NFL draft projections have him as the first tackle taken.

Interesting news re: Seantrel from St Paul newspaper:

Three schools — Ohio State, Southern California and Minnesota — are believed to be Henderson's finalists. USC, which was thought to be out of the running when Pete Carroll recently left to become coach of the Seattle Seahawks, seems to be back in after Carroll's successor, Lane Kiffin, flew to Minneapolis is a private jet to visit Henderson and his family at home.
Henderson seemed more engaged and interested in questioning Kiffin and members of his staff than he was with other coaches during recruiting visits.

Henderson has spent considerable time during the recruiting process on the Minnesota campus. Apparently out of the picture are Notre Dame, Florida and Miami.

Cretin-Derham Hall offensive lineman junior Seantrel Henderson, 17, works out inside the Cretin-Derham Hall weight room on April 30, 2009 in St. Paul. Henderson is the nation's No. 1 football recruit for the class of 2010. (Pioneer Press: Sherri LaRose-Chiglo, file)

A really nice breakdown of SC's class going into LOI Day. Note the severe shortages at LB and O-line. A huge concern, imo, esp given SC's struggles this year.

                    ** is a verbal commit.

                    QB

                    ** Jesse Scroggins, Lakewood HS

We're set at this spot. we wanted one quarterback and we got the #2 guy in the country by ESPN rankings.

                    RB

                    ** Dillon Baxter, Mission Bay
                    ** D.J. morgan, Taft
                    Soma Vainuku, Eureka
                    - USC or ASU

A terrific duo at tailback with complementary skills. A speed guy and a do-it-all guy. It's unclear if Vainuku would play fullback or linebacker.

                    WR

                    ** Robert Woods, Serra
** Kyle Prater, Proviso West (IL)
                    Markeith Ambles, Henry County (GA)
                    - USC, Tenn, UNC

Much like the RB spot, the two committed receivers make a terrific pairing. Woods is silky smooth, good size and fast. Prater is your classic big receiver. Ambles is talented, no doubt, but I'm fine if we get him and I'm fine if we don't. Great class of receivers in So Cal next year. Markeith will choose on signing day between USC, North Carolina and Tennessee.

                    TE

** Xavier Grimble, Bishop Gorman (NV)
                    ** Randall Telfer, Rancho Cucamonga
                    Christian Thomas, Highland
                    - USC, UCLA, Oregon

The run of big-time offensive talent continues at the tight end spot. Grimble is your classic big TE while Telfer is more of an h-back receiving type. We're set if we only bring in the two tight ends but Thomas is too good to pass up if he wants to come. Christian will announce his choice on Prime Ticket Signing Day special.

                    OL

Seantrel Henderson, Cretin-Durham (MN) - USC, OSU, ND, Minn
John Cullen, Fullerton College - USC, OK, Utah
Arie Kouandijo, DeMatha Prep (MD) - USC, Alabama, Cal
Chaz Green, Tampa Catholic (FL) - USC, Florida, Tennessee
                    Giovanni DiPoalo, St. Bonaventure
                    - USC or UCLA

The line is a critical need in this class and it would be nice if we could get two off this list, three would be even better. Obviously the potential addition of Henderson would be huge.

                    DL

                    ** George Uko, Don Lugo
                    Dak Smith, Westchester

Uko is solid in the middle but we missed on some good ends in this class. Next year is deep on the DL in state. Smith is a one-time verbal who is not expected to sign with USC tomorrow but we will still list him for now as there has been no formal word on his status.

                    LB

Josh Shirley, Kaiser - USC or Miami
Jordan Zumwalt, Edison - USC, UCLA , Stanford

Hayes Pullard, Crenshaw - USC or UCLA
                    Glen Stanley, Eastern Arizona
                    - USC or Tennessee

Another critical area of need. Would love to get two of the local players plus at this point it looks good for the JC guy Stanley.

                    DB

                    ** Anthony Brown, Kaiser
                    ** Dion Bailey, Lakewood
                    ** Demetrius Wright, Corona
Dietrich Riley, St. Francis - USC or UCLA
Demar Dorsey, (FL) - USC or Florida State
Lawtwan Anderson, Glenville (OH) - USC, WVU, OSU

Sean Parker, Narbonne - USC, WA, Mich
                    Nickell Robey, Frostproof (FL)
                    - USC, UGA, WVU, USF

There are still some very good safety prospects left on the board. We will take at least one, if not two, from this group. Riley looks good to fill one of those spots. Robey enjoyed his visit but we will fight the distance battle on this one.
Of the DB's, I am guessing SC lands Deitrich Riley (dude is hot...has anyone seen his pics? nice eyes....). Latwan is a long-shot since he cancelled his SC trip. Demar Dorsey will go to FSU, almost certain.
                    Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

I highly doubt that. Ohio State has put more kids in the NFL then USC the last few years..

That is done by conference so it was referencing the Pac-10 only. But here is the list of NFL players by college:

                            • UPDATE on Seantrel-Gate:

SC now the favorites to land nations #1 overall recruit?

                              http://www.twincities.com/ci_14317435?nclick_check=1

With about 24 hours remaining before Seantrel Henderson announces his college choice, it appears Southern California has become the front-runner.

And Miami, which the highly recruited Cretin-Derham Hall offensive lineman visited last weekend, has moved into a dark-horse position.

The 6-foot-8, 335-pound offensive lineman planned to fly today to New York, where on Wednesday he'll announce his decision.

Ohio State, thought to be among top considerations the last few months, now seems to be in third place, followed by Minnesota. It would be a major surprise if Henderson chose the Gophers.
The guy who had as much impact as anyone on Henderson and his family

during a USC staff visit in Minneapolis last week was associate head coach Monte Kiffin, father of USC head coach Lane Kiffin. Trojans recruiting coordinator Ed Orgeron also was among the visiting party to Henderson's home and school. Kiffin was a defensive coordinator for the Minnesota Vikings, as well as defensive coordinator for the 2002 Tampa Bay Buccaneers Super Bowl championship team.
                              Fitter. Happier. More Productive.
