Fed Ex field is "nuetral"? Who comes up with this crap. If BSU runs the table next year, they have to be in position to play for a NC.Originally posted by Surfah View PostBoise State returns every starter save 1. Their OOC is stronger with a road trip to 'neutral' Fed Ex Field to play VA Tech and they get Oregon State at home. They could play for a NC next year.I'm your huckleberry.

I have no problem with you disagreeing with my conclusion. Just remember the Sesame Street Song. Quite the stretch there. "Only ever hope to tie"? Hardly. You asked a question about the past, I answered it. Goat, this bit about how BYU has limited resources is something you bring up quite often. You use it to show BYU has a cap on their programs which you believe is where the FB program is now and to downplay expectations.Originally posted by Goatnapper'96 View PostBronco does about as well as his resources allow and Kyle is a one hit wonder that should not be mentioned in this company.
BYU has by far the most resources available to them than any non-BCS program and rank in the top 20-30 in the nation, IMHO. They have the best facilities, largest fan base, and largest recruiting base.
What other non-BCS program's coach can wake out of bed the week after signing day in Feb and have a handful of 4/5 star recruits and a couple dozen 3 star recruits for the next year have his school listed in their top 3 without even having to do any work to sell the program?

Make that two of these things.Originally posted by SloanHater View PostI have no problem with you disagreeing with my conclusion. Just remember the Sesame Street Song. Boise will lose their opener next year to virginia tech.Originally posted by Goatnapper'96 View PostI think Peterson is a great coach, but I think that Patterson will learn from this. IIRC, TCU and BSU both return a great deal of players. I don't know what eithers schedule is, but I can see both going undefeated again next year. It could be epic.
BSU has gone undefeated in the regular season how many times since 2004? 04, 06, 08 and 09 I think. 4 out of 6 regular season undefeated, that is pretty damn impressive. Peterson has gone undefeated in the regular season 75% of the time. That is flat out amazing and demonstrates that the other 3 should probably not even be in the discussion.
I do think that Patterson is catching up to BSU's consistency and doing such in a more difficult conference. Bronco does about as well as his resources allow and Kyle is a one hit wonder that should not be mentioned in this company."Be a philosopher. A man can compromise to gain a point. Winning 43 out of your last 52 games and finishing in the top 25 four straight years doesn't sell your program? We're getting LDS players now that we were losing to BCS schools very, very recently and even a couple of non-LDS players that fit that category.Originally posted by jay santos View PostGoat, this bit about how BYU has limited resources is something you bring up quite often. I wouldn't take any of those coaches over Bronco. I'm guessing each school would say the same (except for maybe TCU right now, but they'll get over it in a few days), so I guess everyone's where they should be.At least the Big Ten went after a big-time addition in Nebraska; the Pac-10 wanted a game so badly, it added Utah

When do tickets go on sale?Originally posted by Surfah View PostYou going to come to the game?"They're good. They've always been good" - David Shaw.
Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

Why? Because VaTech is faster and has better athletes? Isn't that what was said about TCU? Is it because they are in a BCS conference? Isn't Oklahoma? They will loose their starting running back to the NFL. It could be the time that I spent in VA, but I have never bought the hype about VaTech.Originally posted by Mormon Red Death View PostBoise will lose their opener next year to virginia tech.I'm your huckleberry.

The difference between BYU's #1 player on scholarship and its #85 is more gaping than <insert gratuitous Jenna Jameson reference>. I honestly don't think there is a program where the difference in ability between the DL and the DBs, on a historical average, could be any greater. I agree that BYU has a recruiting base that provides it a core of great players, but historically those players comprise a disproportionate share of DL and OL. I think Mendenhall has done an admirable job building his system around those core strengths but any informed fan should be able to admit that he faces pretty big challenges in filling out every position on the field with good talent.Originally posted by jay santos View PostGoat, this bit about how BYU has limited resources is something you bring up quite often. Saying that I think Mendenhall is doing a spectacular job but I think he could do better in the defensive backfield. From how I read the tea leaves he is going after more athletic kids for those positions, his challenge there will be what it is always is...attrition, attrition and attrition.Do Your Damnedest In An Ostentatious Manner All The Time!
