Interesting use of the word "can't" when the word "doesn't" would be more accurate.Originally posted by Goatnapper'96 View PostI really think Kyle needs nobody to stand up for him. Even when he can't win as many games as Mendenhall, which I think is most seasons, he is still an obvious outstanding college head coach. His record speaks for itself.

I think Utah's got a great coach, but Peterson is the best non-BCS coach.
Patterson is in, by far, the most fertile recruiting are of the four. I think he owes a lot of his success to the talent he gets than what he does with it. I think, in a way, he's the Ron Zook of the MWC.
I think both Whit and Bronco are better coaches than Patterson. They face much bigger recruiting challenges and do more with less. I think the HC is becoming less and less of an issue at BYU with how they handle it now and BYU has the built in pipeline to some great LDS talent, whereas Utah really has no "natural" fertile recruiting ground. I think KW faces the biggest recruiting challenges of the two, HC be damned. Without the LDS connection there is NO WAY that BYU gets Heaps and Apo or Stout, probably. Attrition doesn't even seem to be an issue at BYU anymore.
I think KW and Bronco are about the same. They play in the same conference and Bronco has more conference championships and owns the head to head, however, I think the job that KW did in 2008 makes up the difference.
It pains me to say it, but I don't think there is much difference between KW and Bronco. Bronco now has 4 10+ win seasons in a row. KW has 2 and a huge BCS win that makes even Goatnapper green with envy.
They are one and the same, and Peterson is the best. Patterson can suck rocks.

He's no worse an offender than YOhio, cougjunkie or Goatnapper, however he doesn't disguise his pettiness and partisanship nearly as well.Originally posted by woot View PostThis thread is surprising. I thought the populace of CUF was better than this CB-esque partisanship. SU is probably the worst offender, particularly with his blanket accusations of rooting against Utah last year and basing his entire image of his team on 04 and 08 while ignoring due to rebuilding (a debatable proposition).
I rooted for Utah last year, just like I rooted for TCU this year. I was surprised at the outcome in both games. The presence of the MWC on this stage is good either way.

This is really annoying. Why do people pluralize names like this? I am not to blame that Kyle DOESN'T win as many games as Mendenhall. I just think that it is a factual statement made without any editorializing comments. It is probably my opinion that such facts should be considered when evaluating which coach is better.Originally posted by Portland Ute View PostTroll. :stirthepot:
I would wait a year if I were a Ute fan. It is entirely conceivable that Kyle could catch Mendenhall next year in that category, especially if Unga goes pro in something other than what he studied in college, unlike the rest of the 400,000 NCAA athletes!Do Your Damnedest In An Ostentatious Manner All The Time!

A more factually correct statement would be that Kyle has not won more games than Bronco has in three out of five years.Originally posted by Goatnapper'96 View PostI am not to blame that Kyle DOESN'T win as many games as Mendenhall. Another factually correct statement is that Bronco has won more games in the same five year period:
Kyle: 47-17
Bronco: 49-15
It is, indeed, concievable that Kyle could pass Bronco next year.
Still more factually correct statements are that Bronco has experienced more stability (consistency) than Kyle. But while Kyle has not experienced as much stability (consistency), he has exprienced a higher high. Bronco has maxed out at 11 wins, doing so in three of five seasons, while Kyle won 13 games in one season. In his first four seasons, Kyle improved on his win total each year until he maxed out at 13. In his fifth season he did fall back down to 10 wins.Col. Klink: "Staff officers are so clever."
