I opened my Sunday SL Trib sports page to find the following interesting article by Gordon Monson:

This is weird, but apparently the Jazz hate the Lakers. I wasn't able to find the LA Times article where the Lakers are talking about the Jazz this preseason. When somebody finds it, can you please link to it? TIA.

Even though this one is horizontal, I might actually buy if it the banner includes the two cheering people in the pic.

Serious? That would be sweet. Can they do a nicer one for more cash?

There is a really cool wool one, the shape is nice, etc....



A few things I would change:

I don't want all the dates. First, there are way too many to keep track of and there are bound to be more dates added as early as this season.

I would prefer a larger Laker logo and really not much else.

I like the purple background and gold trim. Also, everything is embroidered.

I would be IN if they could do it. Just make sure that the child that makes it is at least 7 or 8 because I don't want them messing it up.

FC Barcelona would beat a lot of NBA teams with their current lineup. They're a long team and I was surprised at how well they defended the paint. And as you'd expect they all shoot from distance stretching the opposing defense and flop. This game could have been ugly if they didn't throw up so many bricks. That goes for both teams.

That said, it was a horrible game. Pau got a lot of minutes because it was FC Barcelona, a team he played on. Kobe's minutes mostly came in the first half then put himself back in the 4th quarter when they were down. It was sloppily played. Lots of fouls. Kobe and Mickeal were going back and forth at each other taking the Lakers out of any team play and to a lesser degree FCB. Ricky Rubio looked like garbage and should never play in the league. I watched the entire thing live. Not impressed at all.

The only thing that concerned me was all of the Odom minutes. He needs some rest. He played 100+ games for the Lakers last year and then the Worlds. He's probably going to be starting with Bynum out. I wish they'd sit him.

Yeah I am a bit surprised by the move as well. My guess he wants more input in day-to-day operations as opposed to being just a face. I also assume part of this is motivated by seeing all of his rivals go this rout: MJ, Bird, McHale, Dumars, Zeke. You could even argue that Kareem even has more influence with the Lakers than he did. But that is speculating that he never was involved much despite his team VP title.
