That was a pretty good game by the Lakers.

What now, Pow?
http://www.latimes.com/sports/la-sp-...,1245005.story
Mild strain gets him listed as day to day.
Meanwhile, Artest's stapled head seems to be feeling better. He will probably play tonight.
"It felt really good," Artest said. "It's up to Phil. I don't want to put words in his mouth."
Jackson said, "We sure want him in there."
In addition to a concussion, Artest had four staples in the back of his head and about seven stitches in his left elbow because of lacerations from what he said was a fall at his home on Christmas.Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

Nice luxury to slide your 6th man over to the starting PF spot, and he can give you 17 & 19. The same guy who started in place of your missing SF for the past 5 games or so. Lamar is both the reason the Lakers are so tough and why they can be so frustrating.Originally posted by Surfah View PostOdom is doing work.

He had 17, 19, and 9. When he applies himself and hits the boards and takes the ball to the hole instead of settling for his jumper the guy is amazing. But like you said he can be a headcase at times and it is so frustrating. He has all the physical tools to be one of the best 3 or 4's in the game.Originally posted by HBCoug View PostNice luxury to slide your 6th man over to the starting PF spot, and he can give you 17 & 19. That was a really ugly game to watch for the most part. As much as I hate Adelman, he deserves credit for getting this group to play as well as they do because they don't have a whole lot of talent. The Rockets are like an overmatched but wily boxer who will clinch and hold and try and turn a fight into a brawl. It's the only chance they have to win against a team like the Lakers.
Artest was off his game last night, but watching he and Ariza, I am glad we got Tru Warrior. As many predicted, Ariza benefited from a hot hand in the playoffs and having the Lakers bigs or Kobe who can set him up for wide open 3's. Having to create his own shot, he's struggled mightily. In fact I'd say his shot sucks."Nobody listens to Turtle."-Turtlesigpic

A3za's game is not suited to create his own shot all game long. He can create in flashes, but not when defenses are keying in on him for 4 quarters. He shouldn't be faulted for this because he never claimed to be a first option and he isn't being paid as a first option. He wanted to be a starter...and he is currently producing at a starter's level. I think he is doing really well....he scores a lot of points but has to take a few too many shots because of his lower shooting percentage. He is a Laker champion and I will probably always really dig him for what he did while he was here. I was glad to see him and he was received well by his teammates during shoot around.
One thing that concerns me slightly.....it is obvious that JaX still has not figured out how to maximize the utility of Bynum and Pow together. When Pow was out at the beginning of the season, Bynum was rocking. When Pow returned, Bynum slumped. Now that Pow is out, Bynum is back. I'm not as cocerned that Bynum's scoring dips when Pow plays (this should be expected, as Pow takes up shots....and he should take those shots), but there is no reason why Bynum's defense and shooting percentages should suffer greatly. Unfortunately, they have suffered a bit. Why is this? Bynum still learning and maturing? Not sure what it is nor how it can be addressed, but if they could figure it out, the Lakers would be even more potent than currently constituted.
Does anyone else really enjoy Scola's game? He is a great role player, can shoot the ball, and always seems to be playing a lot of minutes. Why can't the Machine be a little more like Scola....as in, hitting open shots?

Bynum has been a bit frustrating as well. When the ball goes into Pau at the post he doesn't crash from the weak side anymore. Bynum too, especially last night, isn't running to his spot under the rim anymore. He's been setting up too far from the rim allowing the defender from the wing to sag and double easily and he's been getting forced to kick the ball out and doesn't seem to work as hard at reestablishing position. And when he does get good position but is forced to kick it out because of a good double team he hasn't been getting much help outside. I think Farmar failed to shoot last night resulting in a 3 second violation.
I really don't think Bynum's knee is right. He just doesn't have the same lift he got before. He's not nearly as aggressive going to the rim on the oops like he did. Scottie posted some articles about his knee and also Bynum missing Rambis.
You're right if the Lakers could maximize both of their games while on the floor they'd be unstoppable."Nobody listens to Turtle."-Turtlesigpic

Par for the course. Usually it's the Bobcats the Lakers lose to though.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostLakers blew this. They were tied with several minutes left and choked it away. a few of their 7 losses have been to pretty lame teams.
Where did all those Clippers fans come from?
Going back to yesterday's comments about Bynum, he looks dizzy sometimes. Lazy defense. Not boxing out. Not going to work fast enough in the post. I'm becoming convinced that he might be an LO type headcase."Nobody listens to Turtle."-Turtlesigpic
