Yeah, but Klosterman essentially admits that his inclusion of Kareem is on a technicality, i.e. he wasn't named Kareem when he was at UCLA.

UCLA won 7 in a row from 1967-1973 and 10 out of 12 from 1964-1975.

Kareem played 1967-1969 and you are correct that they did not allow freshman to play back then.

Maybe it's because I saw Kidd and Duncan in person during their NCAA careers, I remember them as great college players. I was not thinking about what they became, but what they looked like and did on the floor in school. I would also add B-Roy to that list.

I remember him playing in high school at Arco Arena when he single-handedly destroyed the mighty Fairfield Falcons in the Northern California CIF playoffs. While he went off for probably 30 points that night, my lasting memory is of him putting a breakaway dunk attempt off the back iron, sending the ball back well past mid court.

Has Rip Hamilton had a better pro or NCAA career? What about KVH?

Hard to say on Rip. Good player in college and pro. Not great in either. You could make an argument for KVH, IMO. Definitely better as a college player.

Another name you could include that some might argue is Patrick Ewing. As good as he was in the NBA, he was generally thought of as the best college player of his time, went to the final three times and won a title while at Gtown.

Yep, one of my best friends in HS. He set the record probably a year or two later than the year that we played St. Josephs in the playoffs.

Interestingly enough, he now lives in Rio and works in Finance, much like our very own Viking.

I watched St. Josephs and Jason Kidd play a 3 game baseball series against Benicia High. He was a sick outfielder and in the 3 games he was like 12-13 with 7 stolen bases. I was only about 12 at the time and I remember hearing his coach talk about how he could go pro in baseball if he wanted to.
