Nice win. The refs were over calling that game. The worst call went against the Lions on that stupid horse collar call.
5-1 heading into the bye, and the Niners have only played one game against an NFC west opponent.
Alcon Smith has 5.5 sacks on the year, he's starting to look like Demarcus Ware.Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

On the 49ers front seven, who's better in the NFL?Originally posted by 8BR View PostI can see the 49ers winning again today, even though they're on the road, for the following reasons:
- Front Seven. The 49ers have yet to give up a rushing TD this season or a hundred yards in a single game (74.4/g).
- TE attack. Their two and three TE formations stretch the Lions' LBs and open up the run in the second half.
- Special Teams. Ginn is getting multiple 20 returns per games. This is giving the offense short fields, which they score on every time.
49ers by three.
1. Baltimore
2. Dallas
3. ...
#3 has to be the Niners, right? They only gave up 66 yards on the ground this week, on the road. Five sacks. Zero rushing TDs through six weeks.

I dig Harbaugh's style... nothing wrong with a little exuberance.
Schwartz was being a little bitch about a slap on the back. He can dish it out, but he can't take it."We should remember that one man is much the same as another, and that he is best who is trained in the severest school."

When the Redskins host the 49ers in 3 weeks, it is likely going to be Alex Smith vs. John Beck. How crazy is that?"They're good. They've always been good" - David Shaw.
Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

This season makes it seem like great coach is worth his weight in gold. I thought Harbaugh could turn the 49ers into a team capable of making the playoffs in year one, but that was mostly because of how little I thought of the NFC West. I'm trying to guard my optimism, but 5-1 having beaten Philly (at Philly), smoking Tampa by 45 at home, and beating a previously unbeaten Detroit team on the road is impressive. The sad part is, there is still a lot of room for this team to improve as well, and they're not that far off from being undefeated.
Justin Smith is an absolute beast and is probably one of the most underappreciated players in the game. Aldon Smith is looking like a great pick at 7. Alex Smith is looking like a legit starting QB (still hesitant to bust out the "franchise" but if he keeps it up...)
The best part for me, is with the 49ers winning, their games are shown on TV here in Utah. Double win for me!

Don't forget a 4-2 Cincy team on the road. The only truly crappy team the Niners have beaten is Seattle.Originally posted by Sizzle View PostThis season makes it seem like great coach is worth his weight in gold. Peter King wrote this morning that the remaining 10 games are against opponents with a combined 21-31 record. I like the Niners in all their NFC West games except at Seattle, that's four wins. I also like them to beat Cleveland. The remaining four games are against the Giants, Redskins, Pittsburgh and Baltimore. They'll win two of those games. That's a final record of 12-4. Is that good enough for a first round bye? The Packers look incredible. Sean Payton may be going up to the booth for awhile and I wonder what effect his injury will have on the Saints who I think is the threat to take the second seed away from the Niners.Part of it is based on academic grounds.
