  • Man, I hope Morgan isn't out for the season. He has been Smith's best target at WR.

I get what JH was doing, in getting Kap reps with the 1's, but still, pull the starters up 43-3 in the 4th. Yes, injuries can happen on any play, but Josh didn't need to be out there at that point.

Edit: Niners will have to make a move at WR, or move someone up from the PS. If not, they'll go into Detroit with only three WR on the roster.

    • Well I guess the Morgan injury could have been worse -- something could have happened to his knee.

I understand what Harbaugh is doing. He's getting Kaepernick some reps so he can be prepared if Smith gets hurt and also so they know what they have in the kid in the event that Alex Smith starts sucking again, which I sincerely hope does not happen. The problem is the Niners are so thin at WR and that guy is the best one they have. I figure a fractured ankle will take 6 weeks at least, right?
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

Possible for the October 30th game.

Supposedly he could actually come back this week, but they may not do it because they have a bye after the Lions game. They can make sure that everything is okay with him before bringing him back.

Getting to the bye at 4-2 would be pretty nice. Plus they're still going to have two games each with the Rams and Cards. Then Cleveland is still on the schedule. Those are five probable wins. The remaining games are against Baltimore, Pittsburgh, at Seattle, Giants and Redskins. They'd be on track for 10-11 wins.

            • I am chalking this week up as a loss, but I thought the Tampa game would be a lot closer than it was. Who knew they would put it all together? I still think if we can keep this game close and stay healthy they should be good coming off the bye week.

              • What happened to Michael Crabtree? I don't think i've heard his name once this year. Is he out with an injury of some sort?
Prepare to put mustard on those words, for you will soon be consuming them, along with this slice of humble pie that comes direct from the oven of shame set at gas mark “egg on your face”! -- Moss

There's three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who's got the same first name as a city; and never go near a lady's got a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, everything else is cream cheese. --Coach Finstock

No, he's just not producing like a top 10 draft pick should. I would have been happy with his production if he were a 3rd or 4th rounder. Darius Heyward-Bey has twice the production. And Darius can actually stretch the field when he doesn't get the ball unlike Crabtree. I hated that pick at the time they made it, I hated it even more when he was holding out and I haven't grown to like it much more.

                  • Highlights from Week 5 below. The defense was all over the field yesterday; Goldson breaking people in half, PW making stops everywhere.

The offense was nothing but TE all day; two TE formations, three TE formations, three TD passes to TE, TE in the slot, TE split out, TE on pass protection, TE run blocking. The Bucs had no idea what was coming next. JH and Roman knew to attack the LBs and they did, all day long.

And the ground game was dominating: 36 run plays (125 yrds for Gore and 65 for Hunter).

Who's got it better than us?

                    • I know it's early, but here is my bold prediction: Aaron Rodgers and Alex Smith will face off in the play offs this year.

Probably Detroit, but it should be a fun game this week.

                          • I can see the 49ers winning again today, even though they're on the road, for the following reasons:

                            - Front Seven. The 49ers have yet to give up a rushing TD this season or a hundred yards in a single game (74.4/g).

                            - TE attack. Their two and three TE formations stretch the Lions' LBs and open up the run in the second half.

                            - Special Teams. Ginn is getting multiple 20 returns per games. This is giving the offense short fields, which they score on every time.

                            49ers by three.

                            • Dang AS with the fumble after Staley gets beat around the corner.

I also don't like that roughing the passer call. He's trying to get pressure. 20 yards in penalties on back to back plays for the rook.
