Those three guys with 9 other hacks does not equal a championship. The closest thing to a contending team would be if Chicago could land Bron and Bosh. We'll see though.
LeBron on his own played on a contending team with nothing but hacks around him. Put him with one other superstar and a bunch of hacks...having a hard time seeing why that isn't a huge step forward?

Even if it was just LeBron and Joe Johnson that went to NJ...that team would be so much better than what was in Cleveland it'd be comical.

But if the trio somehow ended up in Miami with only Mario Chalmers on the roster, they aren't going to fill it out with 8 "hacks". The salary exceptions would be able to land a team like that some significant support in the form of guys looking for an almost guaranteed ring.

Who does Cleveland have all its money tied up in that it can't go get someone else? Maybe not a max player, but a better role player. I know Shaq and Z come off the books. Jamison has a high number. Who else? West? Verajo?

Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

There is no such thing as a guaranteed ring. Lakers in '04. And I'm sorry I am not buying your Bron and JJ in NJ would be so much better than Cleveland it'd be comical. I am not even sure they'd be better. You're talking 50 games more they'd have to win to accomplish just that. To be so much better it'd be comical they'd be approaching '96 Bulls. That isn't happening with just the addition of those 2 even in the sorry ass Eastern Conference.

My sunny day prediction? Bron stays in Cleveland but not in a max deal. 3 years or something. By then Kobe will stop winning the Spring MVP award and he can move to LA and wear royal colors befitting a king.

That's why that little word "almost" was thrown in. And the Lakers win that ring if Malone is healthy, even with Shaq and Kobe playing like jilted teenage girls.

LeBron's cast in New Jersey, even if it was Joe Johnson instead of someone like Wade or Bosh, would have three players other than LeBron better than anybody else he played with in Cleveland. Johnson, Lopez, and Harris are all superior players than anyone James had in Cleveland, at least the version of Jamison we saw in Cleveland. Throw in Favors/Williams/Lee and even at their young ages, I'd take that trio over the Cleveland equivalent of fat Shaq, West, and Moon. So yes, NJ would be superior to Cleveland.

I don't disagree that those players around him would be better at all. But you said the team would be so much better it'd be comical. Bron went to the Finals and won 60+ games with those Cleveland teams. The only thing left is to win the whole thing. And that isn't a given. Especially with Avery Johnson as your coach.

I take it back then. A team that has better teammates across the board around the same superstar would only be marginally better than the previous team full of horrid teammates that were carried by said superstar to success.

If he signs with teh Cavs I would be stunned.. And C-Town will immortalize him..
They built the team in Cleveland the way that Bron Bron wanted it. They gave in to his every whim and he definitely approved all those trades that they made. If he was as great as everyone is claiming, he had enough around him to get a championship or at the very least get to the NBA finals the past 2 years.

Also, why is everyone talking about where he can win a championship, when it is all said and done this will all be about money. The team that can offer him the most money is the team he will end up playing for.

Clearly. If Jordan was really the best ever, he would have won a title with Dave Corzine, Brad Sellers, and Sedale Threat...I don't care what the Celtics, Lakers, and Pistons teams looked like at that time.

I haven't read through the entire thread, so maybe it's been discussed, but how do all these stars coexist? Who is willing to forego the touches?

The team around LeBron is not nearly as bad as the media likes to claim. It isn't a great surrounding case, but it isn't that bad. Not to mention that he hand picked a lot of these players and the organization gave into some of his trade requests that put them in the crappy financial situation that they are in right now. No one ever wants to blame Lebron for anything though, it is always someone else's fault.

Agreed. You put any of the big time free agents on that team or even any of the top 15-20 players in the league on that team and they are still a playoff team which is what they were with LeBron. The team isn't good enough for a championship but it isn't like it is complete horse shit like so many people are now trying to claim.
