I just noticed the 16 assist, zero turnover effort from Deron tonight. Makes me wonder if that's a career best.

Good question. A couple years back he had back-to-back games where dropped 39 dimes and only 2 TO's or something like that. No sure if he went turnover-less in either, however.

Do you know the workings of the Larry Miller Trust? Has this been made public somewhere? I have been curios about the passing on of assets from Miller to his wife/kids/beneficiaries.

Not intimately familiar, just assuming that he set up his estate in a rational manner. Since he dies last year, that means that he could have given no more than $3m to his kids/grandkids tax free and the rest could have gone to Gail tax free. if he tried to give more than that, he'd be giving matching gifts to the IRS (50% tax rate) and I'm certain they avoided that.

they most likely give annual gifts of their business interest to the kids and grandkids at a highly discounted rate, but as the business/estate is worth hundreds of millions, they are unable to give away much % ownership.

I have no idea if they are leaving most of their estate to their kids, maybe they are leaving a big chunk to the church. But most of it won't pass from Gail's ownership until she passes away. At that time, there will be a huge tax bill (unless the money goes to the church or a private foundation...which a large chunk probably does). If it goes to the kids, they will probably be selling some businesses to pay the tax man. I wonder if they'll sell the Jazz.

Checking the standings the Jazz have played more games than anybody else in the NBA (20).

Currently the Jazz are winning about 73% of their games at home, which would put us at about 30 home wins for the season.

The Jazz have been even better on the road winning 77% of their games. If they could keep it up, that would put them at 32 wins for the season.

62-20 or better has only been done twice in Utah, both times resulting in Finals appearances.

It's early, but for a team still looking for chemistry and incorporating important new pieces and missing an All-Star center, absolutely not terrible.

Sporting News just did their list of the 50 best players in the league, as voted on by "NBA types." Even the biggest homer in me would have never predicted Deron was going to be considered this caliber of player when we drafted him.

Bogut at 22? Aldridge at 39, ahead of Lopez? Bogut at 22?

This list makes no mention of draft position so the fact that Bogut is a very productive player when healthy makes that selection much more palatable. Aldridge at 39 is more of a head scratcher to me.

Why not? He was compared to Jason Kidd with a better jumper. Kidd would have ranked that high his 6th year in the league.
