Jazz add Jeff Green on a 1-year, 2.5 M contract. He's certainly not a spring chicken, but that's a nice way to fill a roster spot; a veteran big who can shoot the 3 just as well as Crowder could.

Mudiay is very interesting. Only 23 years old, he is big and is a good athlete - let's hope an improving shooter. to get him like this is a pretty big deal.

Last year, he had 3 30+ point games - that is more than anybody on the Jazz not named Donovan Mitchell. He had about 15 (iirc) 20+ point games - which i would guess is more than anybody not named Donovan Mitchell - maybe Rudy. He averaged 17.5 ppg in the months of December and January. sure, he's putting up those numbers on a bad team, but he's still playing against NBA competition. and again, he is only 23.

but as is nearly always the case, there is a reason they were able to get him at this stage of the game - he put up those scoring numbers last year on 45% FGs and 33% 3pt. that is decent. But prior to this past year - you look at his shooting numbers and they are off the charts bad - 36%, 38%, and 38% in his prior 3 seasons.

optimistically, he was very young during those three seasons as he came into the league at 19 - maybe rather than an aberration, this year's 45% shooting is legitimately from improvement. let's hope that is the case. I wish the jazz could have worked a second year team option into that deal because he is a very promising young player as a big guard.

the Larry Bird exception allows teams to exceed the salary cap to re-sign their own free agents, at an amount up to the maximum salary. To qualify as a Bird free agent, a player must have played three seasons without being waived or changing teams as a free agent.

A number of reports on twitter say Mudiay's camp WANTED him to sign with Utah because of the excellent player development program. ANd Jeff Green's people suggest he is in Utah because he is ring hunting.

As a long time Jazz fan it is hard to believe these things. A young FA wanting to play in Utah? A veteran FA who is ring hunting signs with the Jazz? This all seems too good to be true. BUt I really like the look of this roster (although I will miss Favors).

I’m it a Jazz fan, but I really like their team (it helps that they have a frog). I would find it funny if they win a title next year after not winning anything with Stockton and Malone. I also hope they pick up Jimmer, even if he only sits on the far end of the bench. Jimmer with a ring and Andre Miller without one would be the perfect situation.

kinda crazy - after conley, bb and davis, we were talking about a strong starting lineup with a fairly legit big 4, but the bench was weak. adding green and mudiay and likely adding a shooter, the bench could be as strong as the jazz have ever had.

I bet two of the three picks make the team. Brantley looks like he could develop into a rotational player down the line. Oni has not looked like an NBA player at all in my limited viewing and opinion.
