Ed Davis at $5M per is a decent add. He’ll replace 2/3 of Favors offensive production at 1/3 the price, and he’s Favors’ equal on the boards. Maybe even a slightly better rebounder.
if ed davis were the prize, it would of course be underwhelming. but adding davis after adding bojan and losing favors was about as good a move as a gm can make. losing favors and adding bojan left a gaping hole in rebounding and they came away with one of the best rebounders in the league.
he's not as prolific offensively as favors, but is very efficient. i think your 2/3 number is fair but it might be closer than that. he's favors equal as a defender (if not slightly better) and is actually a significantly better rebounder.

I dont think we need Davis to replace all of Favors offense. Favors made a big part of his living by putting back misses and getting offensive boards from misses. Davis will be surrounded by 2-4 very good shooters, unlike Favors. So if Davis, in backing up Gobert, can do 2/3rds of what Favors did, it will be just fine.
I believe they also picked up draft pick(s) in moving Favors to New Orleans.

Terrible news for the Jazz who were kind of planning on having those two on the court at the same time.
Lol. Stop being obtuse. And even if that were actually a huge problem (it's not, because the starters don't all play and rest at the same time over the course of a game) backup PG help is pretty easy to come by. I fully expect the jazz will sign a Neto/TJ McConnell/Dellavadova type guy without much difficulty.

There's three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who's got the same first name as a city; and never go near a lady's got a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, everything else is cream cheese. --Coach Finstock

In all seriousness, I don't think it's a real problem, and we're nowhere near a varnished roster. I just think we're done with the PG by committee nonsense we had to endure last year.

Im disgusted with the Jazz for all their offseason shenanigans. Almost but not quite as I am disgusted with Daniel Summerhays.
It's been nice to get a few Summerhayeses at BYU. Pretty sure they all come from three brothers who played at Utah. I served with Bryan Summerhayes on my mission, and we had a pretty friendly BYU/Utah rivalry going.
Jazz add Jeff Green on a 1-year, 2.5 M contract. He's certainly not a spring chicken, but that's a nice way to fill a roster spot; a veteran big who can shoot the 3 just as well as Crowder could.
