On paper it seems like a dream pick for Utah.

Tony Mitchell still in play, BGR. I'd actually like to see them take a shot at Jeff Withey in the second round if he's available when they pick or maybe via trade into the early second.

That says more about the players at 15 than it does about those at 35.

Rumors of Jazz trading for Denver's rights to Rudy Gobert.

I'd really like that, although I know nothing about Gobert other than him being 7'2" with a 7'9" wingspan and appears to be a good athlete with a frame that could add some good weight.

Locke saying Jazz very high on him (Gobert).

Sizzle was texting me during the early picks and I told him that when they called Burke to Minny, I swear I saw KOC stand up in the crowd and start clapping and smiling. Did anyone else notice that?

The Jazz have never been as PnR heavy as most fans think (even in the S&M era). They've always run an offense that was primarily a flex-motion and then used the PnR as their go-to play when they needed crunch buckets. The offense hasn't had a ton of identity with under Corbin, but pairing Burke with Favors (who showed quite a bit of potential in PnR's last year) and Kanter (who showed some promise to both roll and pop), they would seem pretty well poised to start implementing that more again.

I don't know much about Gobert so I'm reading Ford's notes right now.

                    Long, athletic big man
                    Explosive leaper
                    Runs the floor well

                    Huge 7-foot-9 wingspan
                    Very good rebounder
June 26 Update: Gobert is the longest player in the draft and looks like he has the chance to be an imposing rim protector at the next level. The issue is a general lack of athleticism and questions about his long-term potential on the offensive end. He's a project, but maybe one worth taking.

Quick fact: Gobert averaged 1.08 points per play on post-ups, third among French league players (min. 25 plays).

They've had PGs who haven't been great in SnR situations since Stock was gone. That definitely isn't Deron's strength. I think this is a big part of Lindsey saying Corbin has to make changes to his offense. And landing a PG who can run it was key to make it happen.

I don't know if Locke knew Utah was going to go hard after him, but after he did his video analysis of Gobert, he said if he was picking a center in this draft he would take Gobert.

He "only" has a 29 inch max vert, but when you watch his highlight videos, a 29 in vert for him looks like a 35 inch max vert for your average 6'11" guy.

So the Deron trade is now final. Favors, Kanter, Burke (well, half of Burke) and I guess Marvin.

Locke is claiming the Jazz liked Gobert enough they were considering him at 14. I find that hard to believe.

Maybe should've gone back to school, Kabongo.
