But there were a lot of NBA scouts during the last Spanish King’s Cup… Tomic: Yes, I know there were some who came to see me, but I’m committed to the Jazz and I will play with them when I go to the NBA.
    I don't think no interest is accurate. I don't think his interest is exceptionally high, but the Jazz have been in consistent contact with him this year and they wouldn't do that unless there was at least some interest in his part on coming over.
    So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

    • McCollum gets the top PG ranking in Ford's final 100. Some rumors out there that the Jazz and Kings are talking and there's potential for a draft day swap if McCollum is still on the board. But you know how rumors and the Jazz go.

          @CptnC2 1h
          @Lockedonsports on Malone/Favors: "Initial reviews are out of this world...I doubted this...I couldn't have been more wrong..." Love this!
          @Lockedonsports now
          Awesome scene yesterday at ZBCC. Karl Malone on floor working with Derrick Favors with Jerry Sloan watching.
          @Lockedonsports now
          To say Malone was working Derrick Favors might be an understatement. He was driving Favors hard. Both were very engaged
          @Lockedonsports 10m
          My understanding is Favors and Malone were scheduled for two days and Malone stayed an extra day to work with Favors for a 3rd yesterday

            Why would he stop signing contracts until he's ready to come and/or his team is ready to bring him over? That makes no sense. Jazz haven't shown much interest until this year.

              when does his current contract end? and I though the jazz have been interested in him coming for a while.

              edit: he just signed for 3 years last year. yea, I doubt he ever makes it.

                No, they haven't. In fact, they weren't in any real contact with him at all for a couple years there. He really hasn't looked ready for the NBA until this year. He was just too weak physically.

                Jazz would just need to chip in more in bonus to make the buyout work. Nobody seems to know how much the buyout is, but since the Jazz said they'd be talking to him this summer about coming over, I'm guessing they know the amount and think they can make it work. Or maybe when they mentioned talking to him part of that was figuring out what the actual buyout would be. Not really sure, but Locke did a podcast on him and it sounds as if the Jazz have a serious interest in making it happen for the first time.

                I'm not saying he'll come over; I would be completely unsurprised if he never played in the NBA. I just don't think "no interest" is accurate.

                • Ford's final mock sticks with Nogueira at 14 and Canaan at 21. He also says he wouldn't be surprised if Utah makes a move to 7 to get McCollum.

                  • Pelton comparing this draft to previous years based on WARP projections.

                    Turns out that, even if the draft board went solely based on WARP projections, this year's class would still be short on elite talent. The strength of the 2013 draft from this perspective lies from the 15th-best prospect onward, where this group is as strong as any in recent memory. That's even more apparent when we graph this year's WARP projections against the average for the best player in the draft, second-best and so on.

                    As I noted Monday, Nerlens Noel is a little on the weak side for the top-rated prospect in a given draft class. The real issue, however, is that Noel is the only player with a WARP projection of 3.0 or better this year. Every draft from 2006-12 had at least two players with 3.0 projections or better, and 2009 actually had six. Once we get past the sixth-best prospect, the 2013 draft rates better than average all the way through the mid-40s.

                    The answer to the question of whether this is a bad draft depends a lot on where your team is picking. If you're in the top five, it certainly is weak, but this is a great year to be drafting in the teens or 20s. That's why we might not see a lot of pick-for-pick trades tonight. With so little difference between the top picks and late first-rounders, there isn't much incentive for teams to trade up.

                      The NBA has a limit, maybe as little as $1 Million, on what a team can pay to buy out a foreign contract. The rest of the money has to come from the player. It's tough to get a good player for a big team like Real Madrid out of his contract.

                        Shades of the hype coming out of LA when Kareem was working with Bynum. I'll believe it when I see it.

                          It's 500k. Hence the bonus. And Tomic is not with Real Madrid. That was his last team.

                            Do they see McCollum as a guy like Lilliard that's just someone who is great but played against bad competition?

                            I just wonder if he's really that much of a game changer.

                              If Favors turns into Andrew Bynum at age 24 (19, 12, and 2 who would've been far more productive w/o Kobe around) we'd probably all be pretty happy.

                                Yep. Bynum, when healthy, was great for the Lakers.

                                Also, I'm starting to get the feeling McCollum won't be around at #7.
