Al is now averaging 12 ppg, shooting 42% from the field, has shot a total of 6 FTs in 4 games, and of course continues to be the opposition's teams sixth offensive player.

You wouldn't know it by most player's effort but most of this team is either in a contract year, quite obviously a tradeable player trying to increase their own value, or new to the team. While Mo has made us forget Devin Harris he needed 19 shots to get 17 pts tonight. Marvin had 30 bland min at 6/4. Milsap and Al were abused.

The only bright spots were G-Hay and Favors. Road woes continue.

AL Jefferson was repeatedly scored on by the opposing bigs and couldn't earn it back on the offensive end.

A bumbly jumbly mess of guys saw minutes at the wings and nobody was consistent. Burks probably saw no time.

Millsap tried hard, but couldn't carry the team.

Favors didn't see more than 14 minutes

Mo Williams has taken 14 more FGs than anyone else on the Jazz (Jefferson is 2nd at 50). Not really a big concern since he currently has the 2nd best eFG% (behind Foye), but it kind of shoots down Corbin's line of needing a more traditional PG to be the back-up so the Jazz offense will work as it should.

Jefferson has played 30 more minutes than Favors through 4 games. Favors has taken twice as many FTs (12 to 6). Jefferson has attempted 26 more FGs, is the focal point of the offense whenever he's on the court, and yet he still can't ever get to the line. Combine it with his awful shooting so far and awful defense and you get a 3 game losing streak.

I'm surprised Kanter's reb rate is only at 13.7. The guy had no energy on the roadie and let his tentative offensive play affect other parts of his game.

What's crazy about Enes is how much he's fouling. Last year I was really impressed with his ability to play physical but not pick up fouls. That's just a thing young kids struggle with and he seemed to avoid that. This year he's fouling almost 4x a game in just 14 mins.

And I wonder how much that has factored into his limited play so far. He has gotten some pretty tacky fouls against him, and it could be altering how he plays after picking up a quick, cheap foul like he did as soon as he got on the court last night. I wonder if Kanter was one of the primary guys in mind when Corbin said the Jazz bigs need to play more aggressively and not worry about fouls because of their depth.

I will not join that group. He isn't Lamar Odom of yesteryear but he's a long 3 that the Jazz have desperately needed and as was pointed out he forced Rudy Gay to miss a lot of shots last night.

I'm hoping it was an undisclosed flu bug or something (of course it wasn't I just like him too much to hate on him). To see him work so hard to get to the weight he felt was best has earned him a lot of slack in my book. In the first home game I saw glimpses of a player with tremendous potential who had worked a lot on his footwork and certainly on his touch.

The disappointment I have is that Favors and Jefferson came back in bad physical shape (I'm exluding Raymond Foye because he has played at this weight for a while now - not that this absolves him just that he has consistently been 'bigger'. Ok, I'll be honest it's because he's shooting well.).

Getting to the 4th seed minimum or missing the playoffs entirely should be the team goal this year. They are a playoff team with Corbin's current rotation but no better than 7th. If the young guys play and learn to win on the road it could be a special year. I'm not holding my breath though.

And to me, there are really only 2 conclusions to be taken from the numbers:

1) Favors being on the court helps the Jazz win games.

2) Putting Favors and Kanter on the court together last year was a bad idea, and it was a bad idea often made worse by having them play with other back-ups. And yet Corbin continues to do it this year. "Favors, we aren't going to increase your minutes until you show us that you can score more consistently. But we're going to play you with Kanter, Jeremy Evans, and Jamal Tinsley. Now go make it happen, or you are stuck at 18 mpg."

Man I wish this team could channel this energy on the road. There's no excuse for veterans like Al to simply wilt under pressure.
