I'm puzzled by many of your basketball observations, but this one stands out.

I actually meant to put defensively. My bad.

Memo wasn't a talented defender, but he tried hard and I appreciated him for that.

That makes more sense. I do think Memo was a better defender than Booz. He gave more effort and at times was a solid man defender. But they were both slow-footed and thus lacked ability to make help rotations, and were similarly floor bound not offering much by way of rim protection. Just not a good combo.

I also loved Memo. Sad his days are over.

He certainly was better than Boozer, but that's just more a testament to Boozer not trying as hard as he was capable of.

Boozer never seemed to be as slow footed on the offensive side of the ball.

Memo is one of my Jazz favorites. I really liked him and AK. I know liking AK isn't a real popular opinion around Utah.

Offensive side of the ball doesn't require the same directional (straight vs. lateral) movements. It's fairly common for dudes who look quick on the offensive side of the ball (though Boozer never looked very quick on offense either) to still be slow-footed laterally on defense. Magette and Jason richardson in their primes are pretty good examples. There's a misnomer that because you can move on offense you should be able to on defense if you just try. Booz could have given a better effort, no doubt, but he was also very limited physically on defense.

Defense is 50% skill/bball IQ/athleticism - whatever you want to call it - and 50% effort. Boozer had neither. Truly as bad as it gets.

That's saying something because we watch Jefferson every night.

I felt like he could have done more to be a leaner person. I mean, you're getting paid to be an athlete, and I get that guys in that position don't always work hard.

I just don't like Boozer, as I"m sure you've surmised. I think he wasted our time here. He stole money, was often injured, and didn't do his best. I like Okur better because I feel like he played hurt, was a willing defender, and did do his best. And he was pretty clutch.

How 'bout the big bounce back game for Kanter on the road? He and Hayward shot a combined 12-15 from the field. The rest of the team made 26% of their shots.
